Gunnar's Place K9 Sitting Services Open Concept Dog Daycare and boarding They will have access to 5 acres to run and play, walks and time indoors with our family.

As dog owners ourselves, we realize how hard it can be to find someone you can trust to look after your dogs in your absence. That is why at Gunnar's Place we believe in a completely open concept where your Canine family member will be treated as one of our own.

I consider myself to be extremely lucky in that we do not have a large turn over of daycare dogs. Most of the dogs that come have been with me for many many years. Seeing them grow from wee pups into seniors has been a gift. Unfortunately with that passing time and age that sets in we have seen them through to the end of their days. In order to provide for their needs while in care we had closed off accepting any new dogs.

Last week 2 of our dogs passed over the rainbow bridge in the loving arms of their owners. The hard part of the job that no one tells us about. πŸ’”

As hard as it was and is and as much as we miss them, it has opened up a couple of daycare spots for the younger dogs that are in need of a place to hang out a couple days a week.

If you have been waiting for a spot it’s your lucky day. Please message us

We have a few boarding spots that have opened up for November.

NEW TRAVEL RULES HAVE BEEN AGREED

If you are travelling with your dog into the US after 1st August, you will need to book an appointment with your veterinarian prior to travel.

The vet needs to:

-confirm pet's details - Name, Breed, S*x, Date of Birth, colour/markings
- scan and verify your pet's microchip number and confirm the date it was implanted
- confirm details of Rabies vaccination including manufacturer, serial number, product expiry date, date vaccine administered, date next vaccine is due. If the pet hasn't received a Rabies vaccination before, this needs to be done at a minimum of 30 days prior to travel.
- confirm the pet is over 6 months of age
- provide copy of medical records, and ensure pet's details are consistent.
- provide a Rabies Vaccine Certificate for any rabies vaccine administered. If Rabies vaccine was administered by another veterinary practice you will need to obtain a copy of the certificate from them (signed by the Dr in blue ink) and bring this certificate to your appointment.

Once the vet has signed and stamped the form with the practice stamp, you need to keep this form along with the Rabies vaccine certificate, the copy of your pet's medical records for the previous 6 months and the copy of the CDC Import Form Receipt for inspection at the border.

This protocol applies for dogs that have been within Canada and not to have travelled to any of the high risk countries listed on the CDC website. The link below is for the Canadian government website that lists further information for export and for other pets.

At present the CDC website hasn't been updated with the final information but we will forward this to you all as soon as it becomes available. We do not know yet how far in advance of travel these forms need to be completed.

For those who I haven’t seen this past week I will be closed Friday April 26-Sunday April 28th. Never thought I’d take a birthday off but it’s a big one so I’m gonna go cry in the bush camping as I blow out 50 candles πŸ˜‚

A reminder as we plan our year ahead that I will be closed July 17th - 30th. I will have no cell service or internet during that time as London and I will be off island deep in the bush facing our fears in bear country πŸ˜‚ oh and snakes - EWE. πŸ˜‚
Thankfully Ron bought me a garmin for Christmas so I promise we will find our way home.
