Kenji from Last Minute Rescue out for an adventure! Kenji has been staying in boarding with us at Martindale Kennels for an extended period of time and looking for his forever home. We have come to discover that Kenji is extremely loyal and bonds tightly to his trusted humans (which now includes our entire kennel staff). Kenji seeks an owner to uphold rules, structure guidance and boundaries that will allow him to feel safe and protected. He will forever trust you and be nothing but a loyal companion. We only spent approximately 15 minutes in Canadian Tire in order to keep it a positive experience. Once back at the kennel we took Kenji on a walk alongside his buddy Otis from Rebel Dog Rescue!

Kenji is available for adoption through Last Minute Rescue. He is nervous of new people and simply requires time to build trust. Once Kenji feels safe he becomes your best friend! He is loyal and would love a buddy to go for walks or even hikes with! He’s also happy to snuggle up and get an ear or bum scratch. Check out Kenji’s full bio

No you cannot pet the adorable puppy!! Ahh this is such a difficult concept for humans! I say from now on, let’s all start considering how the dog feels in these situations as well! Greetings can be overwhelming for our dogs and if we as leaders are not calm and relaxed then how on earth can we expect our dogs to be. Remember it’s up to you who your dog interacts with…not your dog! Be the leader that gives direction and keeps your dog safe! Learn how to be that leader for your dog at Martindale Kennels.

Working Cava from Pomeranian & Small Breed Rescue. Nervous, insecure dog who is in his defence drive. Teaching him the beauty of following a calm, confident leader in Pack Drive. Life gets easier and not so scary when they have a pack leader who directs and protects them. This long line exercise allows me to tap into my horseback riding days where it’s all about pressure and release through the reins as a way to communicate. This is no different. So much conversation happening throughout this entire lesson. Do you spot it?
