Avec près de 1000 participants, la conférence annuelle du SSR a eu lieu pour la toute première fois en dehors de l'Amérique du Nord cette année, à Dublin Irlande ☘️. Le RQR était bien représenté à la réunion, avec de nombreux membres présidant des sessions ou présentant leurs travaux.

Félicitations spéciales à nos récipiendaires de la bourse de voyage pour étudiants du SSR Florine Grudet (Université de Montréal), Florence Gagnon (Université de Sherbrooke) et Claire Lin (McGill) ! 🎉

Nous espérons que les participants du RQR en ont appris davantage sur leurs domaines et ont apprécié leur séjour à Dublin. Nous nous reverrons l'année prochaine à Washington, D.C. !

With nearly 1000 attendees, the SSR annual conference took place outside of North America for the very first time in Dublin, Ireland this year ☘️. The RQR was well represented at the meeting with many of its members chairing sessions or presenting their work.

A special congratulations to our SSR trainee travel award recipients Florine Grudet (Université de Montréal), Florence Gagnon (Université de Sherbrooke) and Claire Lin (McGill)! 🎉

We hope that the RQR attendees learned more about their fields and enjoyed their time in Dublin. We will see each other next year in Washington, D.C.!

La Society for the Study of Reproduction vient de publier une excellente entr***e avec Dr Bruce Murphy de l'Université de Montréal, membre fondateur du RQR et récipiendaire du prix Carl G. Hartman 2023 remis par la SSR. Ses premières années de jeune chercheur, les conseils donnés à ses stagiaires, son style de mentorat et les opportunités dans un futur proche pour les jeunes biologistes en reproduction, un tour d'horizon d'une magnifique carrière.

La semaine dernière le 16e Symposium du RQR a eu lieu à Québec, réunissant plus de 165 participants, où nous avons pu en apprendre davantage sur l’omique spatiale et les recherches intéressantes menées non seulement au sein du RQR, mais aussi, plus largement dans le domaine de la biologie de la reproduction grâce à nos conférenciers-ères (Irene Ong de l’University of Wisconsin-Madison, WI, É-U; Marie-Charlotte Meinsohn du Massachussetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, MA, É-U; Florian Wünnemann de l’University Hospital Heidelberg, Allemagne; Monica Laronda de Northwestern University, IL, É-U; Mohan Malleshaiah de l’Institut de Recherches Cliniques de Montréal, QC, Canada; William Pastor de McGill University, QC, Canada; Kendall Powell de Nature Journal, CO, É-U; et Jocelyn Dubuc de l’Université de Montréal, QC, Canada).

Last week, with over 165 attendees, the 16th RQR Symposium took place in Quebec City where we got to learn about spatial omics and the latest research happening not only within the RQR, but also within the field of reproductive biology as a whole thanks to the invited speakers (Irene Ong from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, WI, USA; Marie-Charlotte Meinsohn from the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, MA, USA; Florian Wünnemann from the University Hospital Heidelberg, Germany; Monica Laronda from Northwestern University, IL, USA; Mohan Malleshaiah from Institut de Recherches Cliniques de Montréal, QC, Canada; William Pastor from McGill University, QC, Canada; Kendall Powell from Nature Journal, CO, USA; and Jocelyn Dubuc from Université de Montréal, QC, Canada).

Of note, this year at the RQR, we had a few students representing France’s GDR Repro research group as part of the exchange program the RQR has with them. Thank you for sharing your research with us and we hope you enjoyed your stay in Quebec.

La semaine dernière, la 56ième conférence annuelle du Society for the Study of Reproduction a eu lieu au Shaw Center à Ottawa, Canada. Plus de 800 personnes étaient présentes et le Québec a été fièrement représenté avec plusieurs de ses membres présentant des conférences et des affiches.

La cérémonie d’ouverture, organisée par le RQR au Musée Canadien de l’Histoire, a débuté la rencontre en permettant aux participants de découvrir la culture indigène du Canada.

Pendant la conférence, certains membres du RQR ont été honorés, tel que le Dr Bruce Murphy de l’Université de Montréal, récipiendaire du prix Carl G. Hartman, le plus haut prix du SSR.

Nous espérons que tout le monde présent a eu l’opportunité d’apprendre et de rencontrer d’autres membres de la communauté, et que vous êtes excités pour la prochaine rencontre du SSR qui aura lieu l’année prochaine à Dublin, Irlande!

Last week, the 56th Annual Society for the Study of Reproduction Meeting took place at the Shaw Center in Ottawa, Canada. Over 800 people were in attendance and Québec was proudly represented with many of its members being speakers and poster presenters.

The opening reception, which was hosted by the RQR at the Canadian Museum of History, kicked the meeting off by showing the attendees Canada’s indigenous culture.

During the meeting, some of the RQR’s members were recognized for their work, such as Dr. Bruce Murphy from the University of Montreal, by being the recipient of the Carl G. Hartman award, the Society’s highest award.

We hope that everyone in attendance had the opportunity to learn and connect with other members of the community and are excited for the next SSR meeting that will take place next year in Dublin, Ireland!
