Is your pet eligible for our blood typing clinic? Read below for full eligibility!
🐕🦺Canine Blood Donor Eligibility:
1. Donor dog are between 1 year old (18 months for giant breeds) and 7 years old.
2. A donor dog is at least 25 kg (55lbs) of lean body weight.
3. Donor dog is in good health.
4. Donor dog are up to date on vaccinations. Vaccine titers are also accepted.
5. Donor dog has never had a blood transfusion.
6. Donor dog have never had a major illness or major surgery.
7. Donor dog are not on any medication (except preventatives such as flea, tick, and heartworm).
8. Donor dog have a calm temperament and can be handled safely during donations.
9. Donor dog is not pregnant or nursing.
10. Donor dog has had a full blood panel within the last year (cbc/biochem)
11. Donors cannot be on antibiotics 7 days before donation and can’t have any dental work 14 days before donation.
12. Donor can only donate every 12 weeks.
🐈Feline Blood Donor Eligibility:
1. Donor cat are comfortable with handling.
2. Donor cat is at least 4.5 kg (10lbs) of lean body weight.
3. Donor cat are between 1-7 years of age.
4. Donor cat are healthy and not on any medications other than flea/tick, heartworm preventatives.
5. Donor cat is fully vaccinated and up to date on regular vaccines.
6. Donor cat have tested negative for FeLV/FIV as well as all other cats in the household that need to be tested negative.
7. Donor cat lives indoors and cannot be exposed to other cats other than housemates who also live indoors.
8. Donor cat has had a full blood panel within the last year (cbc/biochem)
9. Donor cat have no history of previous transfusion or pregnancy.
10. Donors cannot be on antibiotics 7 days before donation and can’t have any dental work 14 days before donation.
