Answer:
It depends.

All my client’s dogs are on schedules ranging from 4 to 12 weeks between grooms, depending on the dog’s needs.

There are openings on a regular basis because people move, dogs pass away, etc. but I can’t necessarily go with the dog whose name is at the “top of the list.”

Why❓
If the opening in my schedule is from a Yorkie; I wouldn’t be able to replace it with a Golden Doodle. The amount of time needed to do the groom would be completely different, so I would need to choose someone from the list that will take a similar amount of time.

When you see a new dog being welcomed in the weekly summary, they may have waited months before I contacted them to see if they were interested in booking an appointment.

So, if you’ve been waiting for awhile, please be patient.
Running a salon that’s one-on-one, crate free and uses 🐾💙Fear Free methods means I must manage my schedule very carefully.

I felt it was important to explain this so potential clients can have realistic expectations. Your understanding is appreciated.

Beginning January 1st, 2025, all appointment fees will be adjusted to an hourly rate. What does this mean for you as a client❓

Over time, I have witnessed the benefits of Crate-Free, One-on-One, and most importantly Fear-Free services, as best practices for the pets we all care for.

Such practices however, take time. Most often, far more time than traditional techniques.

This means working at your dog's pace, and not mine; doing so minimizes their level of anxieties. The result❓ Long term positive experiences for your pet.

I am fully booked for the month of December, and I know it's a very busy time for people, but I have a small request.

Please take some time to make sure your schedule works around the appointment that you have booked. 📆

As a courtesy, I try to send reminders two days before your appointment. Please keep in mind this is NOT automated, and I am taking the time to do this myself. 💯

Also consider any construction and possible delays when you're getting ready to leave for your appointment. If someone arrives late, it effects all my appointments afterwards.

You just play with dogs all day, right❓🐾

I don’t understand why it costs so much. It’s just a bath 🛁

He won’t let me cut his nails, and he won’t let the vet cut his nails, so I brought him here 🤨

Client drops off their 120 lb dog and says, “you’ll just be an hour, right❓”

I’ve heard it all, but let me ask you - How hard do you think it is to be a dog groomer❓

Physically:
🐾Back pain from leaning over, lifting the dogs, and twisting our body in unusual ways in order to do a good job
🐾Sore feet from standing 8 to 12 hours a day
🐾Hearing problems caused by loud dryers
🐾Groomers lung (It’s a real thing)
🐾Bites & scratches (always possible any time you work with animals)

Not to mention, this work is mentally exhausting.
We aren’t using words to communicate.

A Fear-free certified groomer is always watching the dog and reading their expressions & body language. Working at the dog’s pace takes more time but it’s worth the extra effort.

The greatest window of learning in a dog’s life starts around 3 weeks of age and closes between 16 and 20 weeks. This period allows puppies to be exposed to a wide variety of sights, sounds, smells, and sensations without becoming fearful.

Young puppies should be cuddled and handled daily by as many different people as possible. Keep the contact gentle and pleasant for the puppy. ❤

Hold the puppy in different positions, gently finger her feet, rub her muzzle, stroke her back and sides, look in her ears.
