Shetland Sheepdogs, commonly known as Shelties, are small to medium-sized herding dogs known for their intelligence, agility, and striking appearance. They typically stand between 13 and 16 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh around 15 to 25 pounds. Shelties have a double coat, with a soft, dense undercoat and a long, straight, and harsh outer coat that gives them a luxurious, flowing appearance.

Their coat colors can vary, including sable (ranging from golden to mahogany), black, blue merle, and bi-color combinations with white and tan markings. Shelties have a refined head with a well-defined stop, almond-shaped eyes, usually dark, giving them a sweet and intelligent expression. Their ears are small, set high, and typically folded forward at the tips.

Shelties are known for being incredibly loyal and affectionate with their families. They are intelligent and quick learners, making them excellent at obedience training and agility sports. They tend to be reserved with strangers but are very protective of their loved ones. Their herding instincts remain strong, so they may try to herd people, especially children or other pets. Shelties are active and thrive in environments where they have tasks or activities to keep them mentally and physically engaged.

Eddie the Yorkie, so tiny and bright,
With a bounce in his step, full of delight.
But today’s a big day, the groomer’s in sight,
For Eddie’s fur has grown quite a bit—oh, what a sight!

In he prances, full of silly charm,
Wagging his tail, no hint of alarm.
The groomer chuckles, “This one’s a star,”
As Eddie twirls round, his antics bizarre.

First comes the bath, a splash and a spray,
Eddie leaps up, then scampers away.
But the suds are too quick, they lather him up,
He shakes with a wiggle, like a pup in a cup.

Next is the trim, with scissors that snip,
Eddie stands still, not even a flip.
But then he remembers, “Oh, this is a game!”
He dodges and ducks, never quite the same.

Finally, he’s done, all fluffy and neat,
His fur freshly trimmed, looking so sweet.
Eddie the Yorkie, so silly and spry,
Prances out proud, head held up high.

But just as he leaves, with a wink and a hop,
He rolls in the grass—oh, Eddie, don’t stop!
Back to his antics, as playful as can be,
Eddie the Yorkie, forever carefree.💕

Her coat, so fluffy, wild, and free,
