Why Paws Matter

My pet grooming shop delivers trusted, quality grooming services for both dogs and cats, of all breeds and sizes. I called my business Paws Matter Grooming because to me the most important customer is the dog or cat in our shop. They matter to me, their beautiful eyes and faces say it all when they are happy. The most loyal, forgiving, unconditional love, and true friend you will ever have is your pet. I honour that - which means that I also honour their parents who trust me with providing a positive experience during their grooming requirements.

Who Am I?

My name is Kathy Hatt and I’ve had a dream quiet within me for years. After trying to find a groomer that I truly felt comfortable with leaving my two miniature poodles with led to roadblock after roadblock, I knew that I could provide this service to not only my own puppies but for others as well.

My Credentials

I am a Certified Pet Groomer, trained for both dogs and cats and accredited by the Animal Behavior College. My certification also includes First Aid for Pets and Pet Massage to help injured, anxious, and nervous pets.

My Goal

My goal is to create a grooming experience that focuses on ensuring your pet has the best experience possible. It’s not just about the end result (your beautifully groomed pet) but ensuring the experience is gentle, warm and truly spa-like.

The ‘Extras’ That We Offer

Specialty foods and supplies will also be available for the convenience of my customers to help with finicky eaters, home grooming supplies for at-home maintenance between visits, treats, toys and more. We are introducing new stock weekly and are proudly offering Boreal and Fresh Pet dog and cat food lines to help you find healthy options closer to home.

Our Philosophy

If your pet is happy, you, are happy. It’s that simple. Pets are sometimes anxious and nervous with new experiences. I want pets and their parents to have a great experience. I will offer gentleness and kindness with the option for pet parents to stay and observe. I will also be able to put my Pet Massage skills to work as an added value service for all pets who come through my doors. Ranging from 5-20 minutes depending on the service, pet massages will ensure pets feel comfortable, relaxed,and safe throughout their grooming experience. I want both the pet and pet parent to enjoy the experience and look forward to returning.

Pet Parents Defined

What does it mean to be a pet parent? Pet parents do not see their pet as just a pet. Their pets offer physical and mental health benefits. They offer unconditional love. Pets are their rock on a hard day, and add to their joy on the best days. Pet parents care as much for their fur babies as they do their children, family and friends. Parents want them to be healthy, happy, look great, smell fresh, and eat healthy foods. They are seeking services and products that honour their pets.

Grooming services are part of the well-being continuum. Therefore, pet parents are looking for a pet groomer who is reliable, trustworthy and gentle. They want a groomer who puts their pet first and makes themselves available at times that are convenient for them. They want to feel important and they want their pet to feel important to a groomer and a specialty food retailer.

As a pet parent myself, I know that customers want transparency, and a groomer that treats their pet as if it were their own. They want to be welcomed to stay if they want to observe the service, and I am the groomer who will welcome them into the shop. I am the groomer who will cherish their pet and recommend services and products that support healthy lives.
