🚨 Health Tip: Understanding Water Intoxication in Dogs 🚨
While it's essential to keep your dog hydrated, too much water can sometimes lead to a serious condition known as water intoxication.
What is Water Intoxication? Water intoxication occurs when a dog ingests an excessive amount of water, leading to an electrolyte imbalance, particularly sodium, which can be life-threatening
Signs to Watch For:
Vomiting, Lethargy, Bloating, Loss of coordination, Excessive drooling, Dilated pupils, Pale gums
Prevention Tips:
Monitor Water Play, Take Frequent Breaks, Avoid Drinking from Puddles or Pools, Supervise Water Intake: Be mindful of how much water your dog drinks after vigorous exercise or play.
What to Do if You Suspect Water Intoxication: If you notice any symptoms, contact your veterinarian immediately. Early intervention is crucial.
⭐️Show us your pets keeping cool in the water! 🐶🐱
Elliot is here to tell you what to do!
🚨 If your dog has heat stroke, act fast! 🐾 Move them to a cool, shaded area and offer water to drink (not ice-cold). Wet their fur with cool water, especially their paws and belly. Contact your vet ASAP for guidance. Remember, heat stroke is serious but can be treated if caught early!
Summer is here, and while we're all enjoying the sunshine, it's important to remember that our furry friends can suffer from the heat too! 🐶☀️ Heat stroke is a serious condition that can affect dogs and cats, and it can happen quicker than you think.
Here are some signs to watch out for and tips to keep your dog safe:
Signs of Heat Stroke: 🚨 Excessive panting 🚨 Drooling 🚨 Red or pale gums 🚨 Rapid heart rate 🚨 Lethargy 🚨 Vomiting or diarrhea 🚨 Uncoordinated movements

It was dental day for this sweet pup 🐶🐾 The picture on the left was before her dental cleaning and the one on the right is after ✨✨ You can see the teeth are clean and free of the brownish plaque bacteria. So why do we do dental cleanings for pets? What's the benefit to your pet's oral health and overall wellness?
Here are some fast facts on the big "why" behind dental treatments for pets.
🐾 Dental cleanings remove plaque and tartar above and below the gum line. Removal of the plaque bacteria stops it from forming into tartar (mineralized plaque) which then stops the progression of dental disease 🦷 Left untreated plaque and tartar buildup causes significant periodontal disease which then leads to tooth loss, fractured teeth, infection, and pain.
🐾 Chronic, untreated periodontal disease causes issues with your pet's major organs like their heart, kidneys, and liver. Bacteria in the mouth can be released into the circulatory system and travel throughout the body- attacking major organs in its path.
🐾 Dental cleanings and treatments improve the quality of life for your pet. Periodontal disease hurts! Infections, fractured teeth, bone loss, and other painful oral conditions negatively impact your cat or dog. Just like how oral health is an important piece for human overall wellness it's the same for pets 🫶
Have questions regarding dental treatments for your cat or dog? Contact our friendly front team to chat and book a consult with our vets.

This kitten received her vaccines while enjoying some kitty treats and she was none the wiser. She stayed calm and content during her visit and now will have positive associations with coming to the vet.... which is a win✨ win ✨win for future appointments!

Banjo says "I might eat a sock today🧦Good thing mom has pet insurance 🙌"
This month we'll be diving into pet insurance: what it is, how is works, and the ever elusive question.. is it worth it.
❔Did you know ❔ After your puppy or kitten's first appointment with us, there's the option to start an immediate pet insurance policy for your pet? This initial coverage is active for up to 6 weeks and is no cost to you! It's a great way to get started with pet insurance and decide if it's something you would like to continue with. Ask our front team for more info on puppy/kitten pet insurance 🫶
What is pet insurance? Pet insurance is similar to other types of insurance, in that it covers a portion (often up to 90%) of your pets veterinary bill according to the policy that you have. Like human medical insurance- pet insurance will not cover pre-existing conditions your pet may have, so it's always recommended to start your policy as soon as possible.

Ticks are a big 👎👎👎 according to the Uptown team. While ticks start at a much smaller size, they become larger when engorged with blood- like the one on the right. Ticks suck... literally! Oral or topical tick prevention medication is the best treatment option for total tick termination 🪳🚫

🩸Trigger warning! This post contains blood and tooth extractions🩸 Come spend the day with us as we accompany Banjo during his dental surgery🦷 Banjo’s mom was alerted early in his puppyhood that he had an abnormal bite and some retained deciduous (baby) teeth. Without veterinary intervention, these dental issues could have resulted in abnormal tooth wear, damage to the soft tissues in the mouth, tooth crowding, tartar buildup and subsequent periodontal disease, and finally ongoing mouth pain😢 Did you know? We check your pet’s mouth at every veterinary visit to help identify dental issues early on and come up with a treatment plan as needed. Retained baby teeth are generally best extracted during your pet’s spay or neuter surgery to limit the times your pet undergoes general anesthesia. Banjo feels like a new man with just a few less teeth! Thank you Banjo for being such a great patient 🫶
