I thought I'd post this.. I'm seeing another surge of 'click here and hold your finger to bypass the algorithm' posts. Again.

This copy paste thing does not do anything. Been around for ages and it's been debunked tons of times.
You see the same few people because you comment and share them more than you do anyone else. And they do the same to you.

To get rid of ads, and yes, you CAN get rid of a lot of the ads, by clicking on the three dots, selecting don't show the ad again, click a reason ( I say it's not relevant) and then say never show the ad again.

If you do that every few weeks, you will have very few ads on your feed. I have about 1 for every 10 posts.

You also need to change your ad preferences.
On your phone: tap on your picture.
tap Settings.
tap settings and privacy
then tap Ad preferences.
Accounts Center
Ad preferences
You can manage topics you see, or remove advertisers.

And while you are at it, turn your microphone off on all your aps.
Google 'how to turn off the microphones on my aps on my ------ (type ofphone).

Stop using your google account to sign into any ap.
Go to "My Account" : "Security" ( https://myaccount.google.com/security )
Click on "See all connections" link in "Your connections to third party apps & services" ...
Click on the gear at the top of the "Third party apps & services" page. ...
Disable the "Signing in with Google" prompt.

This isn't the olden days. We need to take control of our devices, and if we don't, we will get unauthorized use, spam, hacking... you name it. The information is there on how to use these systems to OUR advantage and not be at the their mercy.

Please don't respond with anecdotal stories about talking about something and then seeing an ad. Please don't ask 'how do I do that on my phone?' Google it.

Our Story

Shuswap Housesitters began to take shape when I was contemplating how to be able to stay for extended periods of time in areas of the world I want to get to know. A house exchange was no longer possible as I was no longer a home owner. The light bulb went on, research showed demand for house sitters was growing, and on June 1, 2009 I began advertising my services as a house & pet sitter. Living in an apartment without any pets of my own (now) allows me to pick up and go whenever, wherever. And when I am not available, I have a network of others I am more than happy to refer.
