Visit our HOMEGROWN Farm Stand to purchase, or DM. At Ravenwood Acres, we believe in diversity and the importance of preservation of heritage breeds. We chose to raise Tamworth pigs and Dexter cattle, along with various breeds of heritage poultry and waterfowl because of their excellent qualities in support of sustainable, regenerative principles on the small-hold farm. We sell registered breeding stock, weaner pigs, hatching eggs, hatchlings, and youngstock poultry & waterfowl.

Just a quick reminder that we are still taking deposits on our Holiday Turkeys. We have 5 more available for Thanksgiving and 17 for Christmas. Deposit is $20/bird, $7/lb with avg size from 10-12 lbs. as you can see by the photo, they are the true definition of ‘free range’ 😂🤣🤣

I have a couple nice Katahdin x Dorper hair sheep ram lambs, 2 small ewe lambs, and 3 good ewes (not culls), looking for their own pastures. Ram/ewe lambs $250/ea, ewes $450/ea, could put a young ram together with the 3 ewes for a great starter flock for $1500. Sorry for poor pics, my phone camera sux.

Our last batch of ‘meatballs’ have arrived! As always we are taking reservations for $5/deposit per bird. These will be processed around Oct 23 (exact date tba) at which time you may choose to pick up fresh the day of processing, or frozen the following days. Our meat birds are fed certified organic feed and are $7/lb. They will be in the brooder room for a few days so we can ensure they are all thriving before we put them out on grass for the duration of their growth. We pride ourselves on letting our birds be birds! Dm to arrange reservations.

Today is our last day at the Salmon Arm Fair. We've had a great time so far and enjoyed meeting so many lovely people! It's really wonderful how much interest there is in buying direct from the farmer and keeping those dollars in our local economy! There has been so much positive interest in the Shuswap Farmstand Trail too! We've been bragging up all our neighbouring farmstands all weekend! If you haven't come by our booth at the fair yet, we hope to see you today, and if not today, come for a drive and stop at the HOMEGROWN Farmstand one day soon! We love meeting you all and learning your stories.

We might be away from the farm this weekend but I just had to take a moment to tell you about 2 new products on the menu board board! First we have a 1/2 lb package of back bacon for $8/pkg and our new Smoked Hot Chorizo Sausage for $14/pkg. Surprisingly, we are almost at the end of another month, and it’s time again to think about our Monthly Meat Box! For $150 you get a box full of delicious meats, poultry, and eggs, all grown right here on our farm, delivered to your doorstep*!! We deliver to Salmon Arm, Armstrong, Vernon, and Falkland or to a drop point in one of these communities if you are further field. We have limited spaces available so message now if you are interested. Box contents will be determined next week.

We need some help emptying the freezer this week so we can take it to the Salmon Arm Fair this weekend! It’s way too heavy with all that meat in it! We’ve got pork, lamb, chicken, and duck available. Lots of sausage, ham steaks, bacon and more! Local Shuswap grown small batch meats, from happy animals raised the way nature intended!

Just a quick note/update. Now that the alert has been rescinded, we started hauling critters home as of last night, and will be again tonight and tomorrow. That should hopefully bring life back to some semblance of normal!

The HOMEGROWN Farmstand will be open from 12-2 today and we will have to play Wednesday by ear as it will depend on how many animals we can get moved before then.

We greatly appreciate your patience and continued patronage through this situation.

I’m happy to report that the fire is contained and the evacuation orders/alerts have been lifted! It will take us a few days to bring all of our livestock home, but I’m fairly certain they will be happy to be back, especially the pigs! They are accustomed to having lots of space to move around and those little pens at the IPE grounds don’t impress them much! Soon my piggies, soon! As an aside, we still have 8 feeder pigs for sale and would love to move them along to new homes! DM if interested.

Hi all! Our sincere apologies for having no posts recently. We also apologize for the Homegrown Farmstand being closed. For those who are not aware, we are on evacuation alert due to the Hullcar Wildfire, and we are trying to find locations to house all our livestock and other critters before we get an order to evacuate. Thank you to those who have been messaging to see if we are okay or offering to help. We greatly appreciate it.

We have 2 Dexter heifer calves available at weaning - one is polled, the other is horned. Both are black. Sire is Tandria Wyatt. Photos to come. Can be registered or sold without registration.

Nellie is a sweet, gentle girl who loves people and wants to please. We feel the breeder over socialized her with their children as a wee pup which has made her more interested in people than livestock. Unfortunately she is not at all suited to her job as a livestock guardian dog. She kills chickens...

Our Story

Ravenwood Acres is a family run small-hold farm in the beautiful Shuswap area of BC Canada. We are primarily focused on raising the amazing Tamworth hog aka ‘ginger pigs’ for their delicious pasture-raised pork! We also produce breeding stock and often have weaner pigs available periodically throughout the year as well. In addition, we keep a small herd of grass-fed Dexter Cattle, with a focus on producing true dual-purpose animals for milk and beef production. We generally have several calves available each year. Rounding out the livestock, we also maintain a small herd of hair sheep to provide delicious lamb boxes each spring and a few goats for their milk and meat. And of course, no farm is complete with out poultry so we have a selection of beautiful heritage breed chickens, ducks, and turkey to produce table eggs, hatching eggs, exhibition stock, and for their utility! We feel it is important to help maintain and breed heritage livestock and poultry to help ensure the viability of the genetic resources for the long-term. Bringing threatened breeds back into the marketplace is critical in this process. We love encouraging 4-H to get involved in all our breeds as we feel it is important to promote and keep heritage lines going.
