Every year, the BCSPCA Salt Spring Island offers the valuable service of providing Doggie Daycare at the Saturday market during the summer months. This past year (2025) we made the unfortunate decision to not offer it as we not only didn't have enough volunteers to meet the needs of market goers but also lacked the very vital role of a volunteer coordinator to run the program.

We are hoping beyond hope to start up again in 2026 as this service is very much needed. But we need help. We need a dedicated volunteer to help coordinate the program. This person would be needed to coordinate setting up every Saturday, checking in dogs, matching dogs with volunteers, providing excellent customer service and support, receiving donations and fees for the service and then packing up everything when the day is done.

The most humane and effective way to tackle your rodent problems is prevention. 🐀
Why?

1️⃣ Makes your home less attractive to mice and rats

Rodents are seeking shelter, water, food, and a good hiding place.
For prevention to be the long-term solution you're looking for, you must rodent-proof your home AND maintain your property.

UPDATE: She's home now!!
This lovely pup is at the Haunted House at theSIMS/CRD building on Rainbow Road. Maybe spooked by the fireworks? We will be here until 9 and will update this post if he's still here past that time.

For animals, Halloween is one of the most frightful nights of the year. The loud noise of fireworks can be scary and often dangerous.

This sweet, bonded pair are looking for a forever home together. Bandit is braver, affectionate and purrs easily. She is a huge support to her brother who is more timid. Hobo will play with you and allow pets but he isn't sure about sitting on our lap. He's also a messy eater 😻.

These kittens need a quiet indoor home. They seem to like other cats, older kids and adults.

We are saddened to report that a caring community member brought in a deceased cat from the North End Rd/Suffolk area. This large guy is a brown tabby with no microchip or tattoo. If you have any information that can help us bring closure to his family, please reach out to the centre at [email protected] or 250-537-2123. We all are sorry for your loss :(
