The story of MeiMei🐶🥰.
The other day my friend Marianne Ducharme called me about a missing black poodle in the Grand Bend Area.
After speaking to the owners, Jackie & Ken Aldworth, I found out that power had gone out in the area on Sunday night, and after hearing a loud bang, their little fur baby , startled and scared by the noise, darted off.
Due to the power outage, they only knew that she had run down their driveway.
In speaking to her owners, I discovered that Mae Mae, was unfortunately a previous “puppy mill” dog, so easily scared, however, on walks, she adored other dogs, and people as well.
I instructed the owners to keep on walking the route that they took Mae Mae on walks.
Here is once again where the wonderful people of the Grand Bend Area came in!
With instructions to “ignore” the dog, in order to keep her calm, everyone did their part.
There is a HUGE reason for ignoring a dog.
When they feel at “peace” and are calm, they stay in the area lost, because they feel invisible!
Yes, we have all hand secured dogs, we open our doors and offer car rides, sometimes they jump in, sometimes they don’t, but this is the reason you always “profile” the dog, and the circumstances of how the dog got away.
Gregarious, fun loving dogs, like Opie, from the Garfield cartoon, will likely come running to anyone with a good treat……to a nervous, rescue dog, the opposite holds true, and even making eye contact, can send them running amok, and into potential danger.
I want to thank Rob Boyce, who drove to the area with his drone today, quite frankly, on conditions that were miserable!
To my friend, Marianne Ducharme, for once again, stepping up to the plate, for a lost pet.
And to the hero’s of the story, here is what happened:
I had already explained to Jackie, she would go routes familiar to her, and here is where it gets really good♥️♥️.
A very dear friend by the name of ANN WILSON, was going to “loan” her dog “Elphin” to Jackie, because they walked together every day, and Elphin & Mae Mae, were best friends🙂.
Very unselfishly, Ann drove to the area this morning, and drove to her old home, and who is sitting in the middle of the road…..Mae Mae, she had walked to Ann’s to see her best friend .
Ann had her Westie “Elphin” in the car, and Mae Mae gladly jumped in☺️.
If your dog goes missing, and you walk your dog all the time, the same areas and directions, your dog will do what is familiar to them.
Thankfully, Mae Mae, was never chased, and at this moment, is sawing logs, in her big comfy bed, in front of a warm fire.
Thanks Ann Wilson and Elphin, you are rock stars!!!!
Welcome home Mae Mae!
