💗TODAY'S FEATURED GIRL IS LIL PEPPER!💗
Lil Pepper is a 9-week old girl in a litter of five kittens reared by their loving mama and socialized by their amazing foster Jayne. She is a friendly girl who rushes to her foster when she enters the room, asking for chin scratches and climbing all over her. Lil Pepper is also quite well-acquainted with their foster's pup Sadie, and will do well in a home with cat-friendly dogs. Three of Lil Pepper's siblings have recently moved to their forever homes and she would love to be next! She will be adopted out with her sibling Jewel, or into a home with a suitable pet she can befriend. Please DM us for an application if you’d like to make Lil Pepper a part of your family!

While we've closed intake this past week, we've been very busy behind the scenes, finding homes for cats, getting sick cats to the vet, working with fosters and community members. We are very thankful for the donations we've received, both monetary and supplies, and also for the kind words you've shared with us. We really can't do it without you and your support, kindness and generosity means the world to us. We're going to keep intake closed this week, but expect to be back up and running at full steam by the end of the week. Thanks for your understanding.
(Adorable kitten pic for attention, they've happily all recently found homes!💗)

🐾Calvin and Hobbes have found their forever home!! Yay!🐾 Despite Calvin's leg amputation, Tanya welcomed this pair into her home with much love! We got update pics on Friday night, the night of their move, and they were already lounging around, looking relaxed and loving their new water fountain! We're so happy for everyone! A huge thanks to Julie, Bob and family for taking these kitties in and helping them get so comfortable and socialized!💗

💗 Wonderful news!! 💗 JayJay has been adopted!! We've been anxiously waiting for this day for a long time! We couldn't be happier that Rhonda chose to give him a home! We hope the rest of his days are nothing but naps in the sun, treats, and lots of love and snuggles. Thank you, Rhonda, for taking JayJay in. And thanks to Ashly and Deb for caring for JayJay for the last couple of years. 😻

We couldn’t have said this better!!

We couldn’t have said this better!!

We are BEGGING you - do not accept a free kitten or offer free kittens !

As rescues, we are desperately trying to keep up with the demand of over population everywhere. We've said it before, but we are unable to keep up.

People see free kittens, and think that they will later plan for their spay or neuter - and find out that it is triple the price of what a rescue can offer them !

Mass numbers of the public are reaching out that got one free female kitten, one free male kitten - and then at the age of four months, the female is pregnant by her brother - and then they have a big mess on their hands with more kittens which they then also giveaway for free - and the problem continues and continues now with genetic issues from Kittens being in**ed.

This is just one example of how kittens rapidly reproduce, let alone the people that get these free kittens and allow them to roam outside or in their barn - you can just imagine how rapidly they reproduce and then suddenly the barn is full of 36 kittens that are all sick and then demanding help from a rescue.

We are begging you ! Please adopt from a reputable rescue that includes spay or neuter and initial vaccinations in their adoption fees.

We used to post gentle messages about this, but now we are so desperate for volunteers, Fosters and funding that it is no longer just a gentle message, this is urgent .

Please.

Humane Societies , shelters and rescues are full and at the point of saying no to furry souls who desperately need help .

Stop the madness !!

Here's the truth: Not all cats want to live indoors. For community cats, who generally are not socialized to people, being put into an indoor environment can be very stressful. They are at home outdoors with their feline families.

The best way to help? Trap-Neuter-Return ( )--the only humane and effective approach to community cats! 🐈

So, what do you do when you find a cat outdoors and want to help? Our resources are here to walk you through it, with at the heart of response: alleycat.org/FoundACat

We had an unfortunately exciting night on Friday. One of our team had a cat stuck in the walls-- or so we thought. We could hear the meows, but couldn't place them. We got exploring with a Flir infrared camera. It took several hours until we finally located her in the duct system. It required climbing into the crawl space under the house, dismantling the duct work, and wiggling the stuck girl out. She was covered in excrement and tired from her experience, poor girl! She was so thrilled to be placed in her mama's arms the following morning! She happily ate some wet food, drank a whole lot of water, and finally basked in the sun in the catio for a nice long nap. It was such a stressful event, but had a wonderfully satisfying outcome!

We had two of our young kittens-- Blaze and Wind-- at the vet this week. Dr. Evans was thrilled to get to cuddle these sweet boys (can you tell?!), and they got lots of attention from all the staff at Northern Oak Animal Hospital. I mean, can you blame them? Those faces! 🥰 Blaze has a swollen ankle, which needed xrays. He was too small to splint the leg, but we're already seeing improvements, which is just what the doctor hoped for! Wind has a head tilt. There was nothing obviously wrong with him on examination, so we are just going to keep a close eye on him. It may improve over time, but if not, we'll get him re-examined when he's a little bigger. Thanks, as always, for the great care at Northern Oak! We really appreciate your care!

**INTAKE CLOSING TEMPORARILY**
We are closing intake of new cats, effective immediately. We will reassess where we're at in one week. We have a large number of cats in our care that are needing extra help, whether it be due to illness or injury. We are receiving multiple messages daily requesting us to take on more cats, injured cats, kittens that have been removed from their mothers too early, surrenders, and we just don't have the resources, manpower or emotional energy to take on more at this point. So we are going to focus our energies on the cats we do have-- getting cats to the vet, healed up, and adopted.

Please do reach out if you would like to adopt a cat! We will happily answer those messages. Also, if you have an ongoing thread with us, we will continue assisting those situations. And if you'd like to foster, you couldn't make us happier! Anything else, we refer you to the Sarnia Humane Society.

For those people asking us to take cats, fix cats, get cats to the vet, but who are unwilling to foster, drive, help with cost-- and especially those who get upset with us when we are unable to help-- please try to be more gracious. We are volunteers. We have jobs, family, lives. We already work many hours at rescue every week. We hate turning cats away, but when we say no, it's because our homes are full, our bank account is empty, and we are drained. That's where we're at now. We will reassess in a week.

Thanks for your understanding.

Another successful TNR day with 9 more cats getting a check up and getting fixed! Thank you to Jayne for helping to organize and Steve for transporting the kitties! You are both invaluable to us! 💗

Can you help? We have a couple foster cats that are needing a bit of a nudge using their litterboxes. We are in need of some cat attract litter. If you have some at home that you're not using, or are doing some shopping and are able to pick some up, we'd very much appreciate it! All the local pet stores carry it. Thank you!
