It has been a full year since we unexpectedly lost Mr. Spooky ❤️ RIP 2015- April 1, 2024

He enjoyed lots of laps and cuddles during his stay at the cat cafe 🐈‍⬛️ and not a day goes by where we don't miss him dearly!

Jethro's not a fan of this winter weather! The roads are slick and icy. Fortunately, Jethro doesn't drive 😸

We will be closed at 7pm today, and I'm hopeful we will be open regular business hours tomorrow, but stay tuned for updates.

Charcoal's enjoying a deep conversation with his only friends: Purringles, Cat Cola, and other kicker toys in the cafe 😩

Charcoal is a great cat who loves to follow you around for pets, play time, and treats! He likes to snuggle up on the couch or in a cat tower when he isn't playing with shoelaces in the tunnel toys.

Charcoal really likes to bunny kick and bite your arm, but we are training him to use kicker toys 😅 he enjoys a good wrestle.

Congratulations, Georgina!! 🌟

After 8 long months of weight loss, weight gain, inconsistent bloodwork, and sores that took forever to heal, she has completed treatment with Molnupiravir. Georgies weight has been stable for 12+ weeks, and her bloodwork is excellent!

She graduated to Phase 2 of her FIP treatment: 👀🔎 Observation!

We will be monitoring her weight and bloodwork closely over the next 12 weeks. If all goes well, she will be available for adoption after then 🙏

Georgina is alive today because of incredibly generous donations from her fans and new and returning patrons who support our local business! ❤️

We want to extend a HUGE THANK YOU!! 😊 to everyone who has supported us in the past, present, and our future in a new location.

Hey everyone! We are urgently trying to find homes for Jethro and/or Charcoal.

Jethro spent a few hours at the emergency animal hospital last night due to him being unable to p*e. 🏥

After diagnostics, vets diagnosed him with Feline Interstitial Cystitis, caused by stress.

As many of our patrons have witnessed, Jethro and Charcoal do NOT get along. They spend most of the day stalking each other and getting into fights like the photo depicts.

Jethro is now on pain and sedating meds, and an all urinary care diet.

Jethro is a quirky ~5 year old boy who likes to play with other kitties (just not Charcoal) and would do best in a home with older kids, or if you're open to adopting two kitties, Jethro is good buddies with Elmo and Porridge! They are play fighting all the time. Jethro can be cuddly when he's in the mood for it.

Charcoal is an almost 4 year old, solitary cat that needs to be the only kitty in the household. He likes to cuddle up on the couch for a nap when he isn't playing with strings, springs, or his tunnel toys. Charcoal plays quite roughly, so he would be best suited to a home with older kids or adults.

Both cats are experiencing a decreased quality of life being at the cafe 😿 💔 the sooner we find amazing homes for these boys, the sooner they can go back to being the best versions of themselves!

Happy Family Day, everyone! We will be OPEN today! See hours at the bottom of this post ⬇️

Charcoal is hoping that his forever family finds him soon! Charcoal is about 4 years old, and he would do best as the ONLY cat in the household.

Charcoal is territorial, and he is picking on other kitties at the cafe 😢 Charcoal loves to wrestle, but he plays hard. Charcoal would be best suited to a family with older children or just adults. Charcoal loves tunnels, shoelaces, and sometimes springs.

When he isn't wrestling, you'll find him curled up on the couch or in another cat bed. He is quite vocal and demands attention all the time.

We will have some extended hours during February break:

Feb 17 (Family Day): 12pm-6pm
Feb 18: 12pm-8pm
Feb 19: 12pm-8pm
Feb 20: 12pm-8pm

Porridge and Garfield went to the Tails of Hope Gala hosted by tonight!

The Gala showcased adoptable animals from the shelter to raise money. They had a silent auction, mystery bags, and a meet and greet area.

Since Garfield is our longest resident, he will be wearing a fancy collar he received as a gift at the cat cafe to help him get the recognition he deserves!

Garfield has been in care since December of 2022, so he definitely deserves to find his forever home soon!

We are open tomorrow, Sunday, February 9, from 12pm-8pm. Come on down to give Garfield and Porridge some extra loving!

Why, hellooooooooooo friends! Did you know that Eleven has been in care for 2 years!?

She is one of our oldest residents and has a BIG personality, as you can see. 🙃 Eleven loves to ride on the shoulders of her trusted humans and enjoys nibbling on your ear lobes. When you aren't chauffeuring her around, you will find her up on the bar top in one of the cat beds or going for a run on the cat wheel.

If you're looking for a cat/parrot hybrid, Eleven is just the feline for you!!

To start the ball rolling on our move fully, we would like to get some quotes for our renovation costs at the new space.

Eleven is wondering if we have any licensed/bonded general contractors among our supporters who would be willing to give us a reasonable quote!

We will need interior walls, plumbing, and electrical done.

Small town shelters usually don't have a lot of space or funding like metropolitan areas to help the large influx of dumped cats, rural cat colonies/feral cats etc. We know that strays are increasing in the city, but it's only much worse for rural cat colonies.

Happy Thursday, everyone!

Just an update on Georgina. She has been receiving FIP treatment with Molnupiravir since the beginning of November.

Her weight increased substantially but then decreased again towards the end of November. Her weight has been stable since November 28, and fortunately, Georginas bloodwork came back healthy enough for us to increase her dose!

She was supposed to finish her 12-week treatment on January 28, but since her weight has only been stabilized since November 28, we are extending her treatment by 1 month to February 28.

During her first round of treatment, Georgie became resistant during the last month, so we are hoping it doesn't happen again and that her system can finally boot this virus for good!!

Shhhh 🤫🤫 don't tell the zoo that their big cats escaped....

A lion and its adopted cub snuck in with a fat black panther!!

Please welcome our newest trio: Bowser (fluffy orange), Castrol (orange kitten), and Jiggles (black)!!!

Bowser is a 2.5 year old boy who is a very loyal and quiet kitty. He is a bit skittish, but he will melt your heart with his cuddles and gentleness. He also loves to play with strings and wand toys!

Castrol is a 5 month old bundle of energy who can play for a solid 2 hours straight with just about anything you could think of before he purrs himself to sleep on your lap or a cozy spot!

Jiggles (aka Big Chungus) is a 3.5 year old boy who is short and stout with the CHUBBIEST CHEEKS. He is incredibly soft and absolutely demands attention and belly rubs. He also loves to play with just about any toy! His squeaky meow will draw you in instantly 😍

13 days. We had our new window replaced not even 13 days ago.

It has once again been smashed by some LOSER with nothing better to do than roundhouse kick the window and smash it. It's only a matter of time before this happens on the cat side.

What is our city coming to? Why is nothing being done about the destruction of businesses due to vandalism?

We will board this window up for now. The window is not worth replacing again.

There is no valid reason for us to be downtown any longer. This is why we will be leaving the downtown core area.

We have been looking at a new location on Circle Drive by Dollarama and Staples. near Lawson/Canarama area.

This new location would be 2.5X larger than our current spot. We would have room for a kitchen, restaurant, and completely separate cat room with its own ventilation. This new location and increase in space comes with an increased price tag.

Other pros to the new location:
- FREE parking in the front and a large parking lot in the back
- separate restaurant area with full lunch/dinner menu
- larger cat room with more seating
- Far less undesirable foot traffic and risk of vandalism and theft

Our lease is over on April 30th, 2025. We would like to be able to move seamlessly around then. To make our dreams come true, we need funding.

We have a fundraising goal of $25,000 to be able to secure a larger loan for the move and renovations.

Happy Sunday, everyone

As many of you know, Andy, one of our resident cats, has been struggling at the cafe for a while now.

He developed his 3rd skin infection last week in 2 months. He was taken to the vet on Dec 24th for antibiotics and a discussion about his quality of life at the cafe.

His belly is bare from stress grooming. His chin requires antibiotics and steroids to reduce inflammation, and unfortunately, his dental health is also affecting his happiness.

We made the decision to get Andy to a foster later that day as he was not going to improve while under the stress of the cafe. While being at a foster will help his skin infections and his bare tummy, his dental health won't improve.

We understand that dental work is very expensive for pets, and we would like to help pay for Andy's dental work so he can be 100% happy and healthy in his new, safe home ❤️

Andy's dental work is expected to cost $800-$1000 depending on whether or not he needs teeth extracted. The vet was not sure if he would need any teeth removed and that we needed to get him anesthetized for a closer look.

Andy's birthday (Dec 12) and Christmas wishes of finding a home and being healthy are almost complete!! 😺 Just look through his Christmas photos to see how much happier Andy is being the king of the castle!

Andy is asking his biggest fans for a little bit of help to get his teeth cleaned. 🦷🪥
