When summer is just too darn fun and you barely have time for the garden….forgot to fertilize for two months so corn ended up only 6” long 🤣 Have to be thankful for good pollination though! Planting your corn in rows of 3-4 minimum, 5” apart to create a tight block is the way to get perfectly wind pollinated ears of corn! If you find that your corn has rows or columns of kernels missing, that is likely a pollination issue. Did you know? The tassels at the tops of each corn stalk are the reproductive parts of the plant. Growing them in tight groupings will ensure that the wind knocks the tassels into neighboring silks, giving you a beautifully pollinated ear.

Going to boil these up and add them to a pasta salad to be enjoyed at the upcoming Powerhouse Park Del Mar summertime concert right on the beach. Hope you are enjoying summer harvests too! ☀️
