🐾 We’re back! 🎉

Unfortunately, 2 of the directors in our small rescue have been on medical leaves, but they have now returned and are excited to be back to helping cats in need and finding loving homes for them! 🐈‍⬛ Sadly, we are very short on resources that we need to keep our rescue running including foster homes, volunteers, supply donations and medical donations 💔

Because of this, we have a hold on new intakes and need to find foster homes and forever homes for the cats currently in our rescue’s care before we are able to help any new cats in need. Please consider applying to become a foster home! 🏡 Opening your home to a cat in need even temporarily can save their life. If you do not have the space or ability to foster, please kindly consider donating food, litter or medical funds to the cats in our rescue’s care for us to be able to continue helping cats in need ❤️‍🩹

🐾Update on Shadow:

Shadow has finally been discharged from the vet clinic after receiving ongoing fluids and medications, and being catheterized for most of his emergency 12 day stay. Shadow is a very unique cat whose issue has never been seen before by our veterinarians. As shown on the X-Rays, Shadow’s bladder is so large that it takes up most of his organ space and surgery wasn’t an option to fix this. If Shadow’s bladder over fills it could be fatal. At the end of his emergency stay, our vet monitored how long it would take Shadow to p*e on his own. It took Shadow a full 2.5 days to p*e on his own! While this isn’t normal, this is considered normal for Shadow considering his large bladder capacity. Since being released, he has been able to p*e more frequently all on his own and is being monitored to ensure he doesn’t show signs of distress from his bladder potentially over filling.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated to his emergency vet care! Thanks to you he is now thriving in his foster home and has a chance at living a happy life. We have raised a total of $1230 through e-transfers and GoFundMe donations. Our final bill ended up being $1395 so we only have $165 left to fundraise for Shadow’s veterinary care! We need to cover the remainder of Shadow’s medical bills in order to help more cats in need.

🐾 Meet Eloise and Benedict! 👋

Eloise and Benedict are very adorable and sweet 10 week old kittens who are looking for their forever homes! These kittens are cuddly, playful and looking for families with lots of love and attention to give them❤️ Click on their photos to read their full descriptions! 📷

Thank you to everyone who suggested names for these kittens and to everyone who voted on their names. The “Bridgerton” theme which was suggested by Kim won with the most votes! The 3 kittens from this litter were named Eloise, Benedict and Penelope, but Penelope was quickly adopted into a loving home 🏡

🐾 Update on Shadow:

We are thrilled to announce that Shadow has shown some minor progress during his hospitalization!🏥 He has been able to p*e once on his own since being hospitalized which is a great sign, but he isn’t in the clear just yet. New X-rays have shown that he has an abnormally shaped bladder, likely from his bladder being stretched while being over-filled and not being able to p*e. He needs to stay in the vet’s emergency care until at least Monday where any further progress (or regression) will be shared with us. He will continue to receive fluids until at least Monday and may need more catheterization depending if he’s able to p*e more on his own or not.

We want to send our heart felt thanks to all of our kind hearted and generous supporters who have donated to Shadow’s emergency stay so far! ❤️‍🩹 We’ve now raised a total of $1160 for Shadow’s emergency care through e-transfer and GoFundMe donations. 🚨 Emergency Medical Donations Urgently Needed! ❤️‍🩹

🐈‍⬛ Shadow is a sweet cat who entered our rescue at the end of May after spending much of his life as an outdoor stray cat. Shadow recently found his forever home, however less than 2 weeks after his adoption he suddenly stopped being able to urinate and his bladder was not able to be expressed by a veterinarian. He spent an emergency 24-hour stay at an animal hospital in Lloydminister, where it was found that he had no blockages or infection. Shadow has an “atonic bladder” which could possibly be caused by neurological condition. Shadow sadly had to be returned to the rescue for his costly care to be continued. He has travelled back to Saskatoon and is now at the vet clinic that we use, where he will need a several day emergency stay where he is catheterized and on IV fluids with the hopes that his bladder will begin to function on it’s own. Our bill for Shadow’s emergency care is at $781 so far, but we are expecting to need a total of $1500 by the end of his stay.

🐾 We want to give a HUGE thank you to Lola & Dave who have fundraised $595 for our rescue’s medical fund so far this year by selling their handmade bird houses and feeders! 💗 This kindhearted couple also fundraised $400 last year and has contributed generously to our craft & bake sales with their homemade pies and muffins.

Lola & Dave sell their beautiful hand crafted bird houses and feeders to fundraise medical funds for cat rescues including ours ❤️🐈‍⬛
Each regular painted bird house costs $25 and each sports team or animal painted bird house costs $30.

The bird houses are handmade with spruce wood, which is very durable and meant to last! They open underneath for easy cleaning, and come with hooks and chains added to them to hang from a hook or tree branch 🌳

🐾 Meet Felix and Oliver 👋
These adorable kittens are now 8 weeks old and ready to find their forever homes! Felix is a male tuxedo kitten and Oliver is a black male kitten. The boys have received their first round of vaccinations so far. Felix and Oliver are both very friendly, playful, curious, cuddly and affectionate kittens who are full of energy! They enjoy play time with each other, with their toys and with other cats. The boys also love their cuddle time together or with humans and will lay nicely on your lap. Felix and Oliver each have a lot of personality and are sure to steal your heart when you meet them! ❤️ These boys were born to a mama cat who was found living outdoors in the Pleasant Hill area.

🐾 Meet Shadow! 👋
Shadow is a handsome black ~3 year old male cat who was living outdoors as a stray for several months in the Holiday Park area. Shadow is a very calm, laid-back and sweet boy who makes an excellent companion. He is very affectionate and enjoys being close to humans and other cats ❤️ Shadow will occasionally play with toys but prefers to spend most of his time lounging around, receiving attention and watching birds out of the window. He is very well-mannered, gets along easily with new cats and is very gentle with children. Shadow has adjusted quickly to his new life indoors and is now looking for a family to give him a loving, forever home! 🏡

🐾 Congratulations to Oreo 🎉 on being adopted into his loving, forever home ❤️🏡 Oreo is 1 of 6 cats that we rescued from an abandoned house this winter. Oreo arrived with many patches of missing fur due to over grooming which was related to both stress and allergies ❤️‍🩹 Rania and her husband Mohammed wanted to help by fostering Oreo and quickly fell in love with him. Oreo’s allergies have now been determined and his fur has grown back beautifully from living in a calm, stress-free home and eating his special diet. Oreo is now a very happy and loved cat who brings joy to his new parents. We wish Oreo a long, happy life with his new family! 💗

🐾 Congratulations to Cookie 🎉 on being adopted into his loving forever home ❤️🏡 Cookie came to our rescue as a stray cat who found shelter in a barn where the other barn cats weren’t very welcoming to him. Cookie was adopted into a new home, but due to emergency circumstances he was sadly returned to our rescue 2 months later💔 Cookie has now found his loving forever home and fit in so quickly that it was as though he’d always been part of the family! He now has 3 new furry siblings (1 cat and 2 dogs) who he loves to cuddle with. Cookie is very attached to his new family and loves being brushed by them, cuddling them and “making biscuits” on them. He has been given the adorable nick names “Cookie Monster” and “Chonk” by his new parents. We wish Cookie a long, happy life with his loving family 💗
