💛 Snowy’s Recovery Update 💛

Snowy had a recheck appointment today at Erindale Animal Hospital, and we’re thrilled to share that his care team is super happy with how well he’s doing! 🐾

Snowy still has a ways to go with his rehabilitation and strengthening exercises, which will help him rebuild the muscle he needs to stabilize his pelvis and hind end. In the meantime, he’s busy learning all about being a dog — playing with toys, practicing his training, and soaking up every bit of love he can get. 💕

We’re so grateful to everyone who made Snowy’s surgery and recovery possible, and to Erindale Animal Hospital for their incredible care and partnership.

Because of your support, Snowy has his second chance — and any additional funds raised will help the next animal who needs one too. 💛

🕯️ Honouring All Who Served — Including Animals

Today we pause to remember not only the men and women who served our country, but also the animals who stood beside them. The memorial Animals in War Dedication in Ottawa honours the horses, mules, pigeons and dogs whose footprints and paws left a lasting mark on history.

Dogs carried messages, served in medical roles and helped with search and rescue.

Horses broke ground for mounted troops.

From the First World War to today, their loyalty and courage remain part of our story.

Lest we forget. ❤️🐾

🐾 Snowy’s Recovery Update 🐾

Thanks to your incredible support, and the amazing team at Erindale Animal Hospital, Snowy’s surgery was a success! 💛

This brave 7-month-old pup had multiple pelvic fractures after being hit by a car, but thanks to your generosity, he got the surgery he needed on October 30.

Snowy is now recovering well! He’s on crate rest and allowed short, gentle walks while his body heals. Through it all, he’s stayed cheerful, tail wagging, and full of heart.

We can’t thank you enough for helping Snowy get this far. 💕
His journey isn’t over. He’ll still need follow-up vet checks and rehabilitation in the months ahead.

Please consider donating to help with Snowy’s ongoing care. Every gift makes a difference.

🎃 Bingo’s first Halloween! 👻

This little pumpkin had a blast at his spooky photo shoot! At only two months old, Bingo is a curious and playful little dude. 🐾

While we’re all enjoying the Halloween fun, here are a few tips to help keep your pets safe tonight:
🕯️ Keep candy out of reach — chocolate and artificial sweeteners like xylitol can make pets sick.
👻 Create a quiet space if the doorbell and costumes are a bit too scary for your furry friends.
🎃 Watch those decorations — dangling cords and flickering candles can look like toys to curious paws.

Stay safe and have a Happy Halloween! 🧡

UPDATE: Snowy had his surgery yesterday (Oct 30) and is recovering in clinic.
We will have a full update for you Monday. Thank you for your support to make this surgery possible. We are still looking for funds to fully cover his treatments.

🐾 Snowy Needs Your Help 🐾

This is Snowy, a 7-month-old pup who was found by a kind member of the community. He was alone, scared, and unable to walk. He had been hit by a car, and when we were called to help, we knew we couldn’t turn away.

After rushing him for X-rays, we learned that Snowy’s pelvis has multiple fractures. He’s in pain and can’t stand on his own. Yet even through the pain, this brave boy still wags his tail when someone stops to comfort him.

Snowy needs immediate orthopedic surgery and months of rehabilitation to walk again. The cost of his care is estimated at $10,000, and we need your help to make his recovery possible.

Our Second Chance Fund exists for animals like Snowy—those whose injuries and illnesses go far beyond what we can normally provide. Every dollar you give will go directly toward his surgery, recovery, and the next animal in need of lifesaving care.

The good news? His surgeons believe he has an excellent prognosis with surgery and rehab. Snowy’s surgery is already booked for this week, but we can’t do it without you.

Please consider donating today to help Snowy get back on his feet.

🙏 If you can’t give, please share his story to help us reach more people.

We’ll share updates as Snowy begins his healing journey.
(Snowy is not available for adoption at this time, and we are unable to keep a waitlist while he recovers.)

🌟 Adoption Spotlight Sunday: Arthur’s Story 🌟

Sometimes the animal you least expect ends up changing your life.

When Alexandra and her husband started fostering for the Saskatoon SPCA, they thought they were safe from “foster failing.” They were dog people after all, and they had friends and family with cat allergies. But then came Blackberry, a small, plain brown tabby who needed a companion home.

At first, he was scared and defensive. He growled and spat at the dogs through his carrier, and Alexandra wasn’t sure if it would work out. But in just a couple of weeks, fear turned to confidence, and confidence to love. By the time his adoption appointment rolled around, Blackberry, now Arthur, was greeting the dogs with head butts and curling up beside them for naps.

Today, Arthur follows Alexandra everywhere, from the couch to the kitchen to the bathtub. He loves leash walks, car rides, and even nail trims. He purrs through it all, perfectly content just being close to his people.

Alexandra shared, “We joke that he wants to be a dog when he grows up, but the truth is, I hope he never changes. He’s perfect as he is, our little Arthur.”

Thank you, Alexandra, for fostering, adopting, and sharing your story. And thank you to everyone who opens their homes to animals in need. Fostering truly saves lives.

📩 Have your own happy ending to share? Send your adoption stories and photos to [email protected] We love hearing from our alumni families!

A huge thank you to Ryley and Kendra for sponsoring their adoption fees and helping remove the financial barrier that stood between them and their forever homes. Your generosity made all the difference.
