Hello all!

Over the past couple of weeks, we have introduced you to the awesome members of our horse show team. Each of them have unique goals and compete in different classes and heights, but we all share the same passion and dedication for the sport.

Bringing us here.

Over the next few months, we will be embarking on an exciting fundraising journey to support the team’s goals and aspirations. Your generous contributions will help us cover competition costs, travel expenses, and stabling for our equine partners.

By supporting our fundraisers, you’ll be directly contributing to our team’s success and helping us overcome some of the challenges we face.
Each competition takes us hours away from home, and the costs can add up quickly. From transportation ,trailering expenses, accommodation, and entry fees, the financial cost can be a significant hurdle.

Is North Star Equestrian part of Hidden Hills Stables?

The short answer is yes to some extent!

North Star Equestrian was a necessary extension to Hidden Hills Stables as we would like to offer students an opportunity that the SSM area is currently not offering!

So what’s the difference you ask?

Our family owned business, Hidden Hills Stables, is the perfect starting point for horse enthusiasts. It’s where riders of all levels can begin their equestrian journey and build a strong foundation in horseback riding. They offer a wide range of horse-related activities such as boarding services, riding lessons, part time leasing options, fun trail rides and birthday parties with our four-legged friends! Thus creating a fun and welcoming environment for everyone!

Now, when riders are ready to take their skills to the next level and explore new opportunities, that’s where North Star Equestrian comes in.
Not only are we a competitive show team but we also offer advanced riding lessons and ProSeries therapy sessions.

Riley is 15 , who started her journey with horse riding in 2017 on a trail ride at Hidden Hills. She started lessons shortly after and has competed in several schooling shows since.

During this time she has learned from a few different horses. Currently she is riding Jackson who she is leasing part-time. Riley is grateful for all the support she gets from this team and looks forward to continuing her journey.

So many life lessons to be learned with horses.

- When my instructor repeats to me: ′′Straighten your shoulders and open your chest!” He’s not just teaching me how to stand up. He's teaching me that in life we should always walk straight and face problems head on.

- When my instructor asks me to lower my legs and keep them close to the horse, he teaches me that in life we do not allow distractions and that little is enough to deviate from his path.

- When my instructor tells me "Too much hand, don't hang on to the reins! "He teaches me to give and not to take, with the greatest respect of others.

- When he yells and repeats endlessly: "Look forward in the direction you want to go!” He teaches me the importance of setting goals and never losing sight of them to achieve them.

- When I ask to move up or do more and my instructor says I'm not ready, he teaches me that in life you must always respect your rhythm and never skip the steps.

- When I fall and get back up, I learn that there are always setbacks, times when we back up, but the important thing is to get up more determined than before.

- If I hold my breath during a ride and he jokingly tells me "breathe! You are purple!” I understand that you have to let your emotions flow in order to get rid of them.

- When at the end of the course I am happy with the work done and my instructor says to me′ ′Well done, thank your teacher′′ I know he is not referring to himself but to my horse.

- Now you, you who are watching a rider pass in the saddle, keep saying that riding is not a sport because it is the horse that does everything. I agree. Horse riding is not a sport. It is a life lesson.

Mia and Piper "Canvas Queen"

Mia is 7 years old and found her love for riding at the age of 5 while wintering in Florida.

Spring of 2022 she joined Hidden Hills Stables where she continues to lesson.

A sassy pony, Piper, has taught Mia patience, empathy, and perseverance. Her first show season was summer 2023, where they gathered many ribbons, great experiences, many memories and made some amazing friends.

Mia loves horses but also loves to be in her bathing suit, at the beach, on a boat and is excited for, each and every opportunity to be at a barn. Big smiles also appear when Mia laces up her tap shoes for dance lessons.

Maddie is 13 years old and has been riding with North Star Equestrian since the age of 8.
She currently competes on her gelding Thor, “Daddy’s Last Dollar” and has been successful in her first year showing at the Gold Series Angelstone. Together, they plan to continue learning and advancing into the higher level.

Rylah started her English riding journey when she was 6 years old at Hidden Hills Stables. Over the last 4 years she has enjoyed taking lessons and participating in schooling shows to further her riding. Rylah currently rides Reese, a 10 year old thoroughbred. This past summer, her and Reese successfully competed at two Angelstone shows in the Hunter Ring. Rylah’s favourite part of riding is the time she gets to spend with Reese! When she’s not at the barn, Rylah loves spending time with friends and swimming.

Introducing our current show team for the 2024 season!

Starting with Paikea & Lady

Paikea is 13 years old and in her fourth year of riding. She and her horse Lady have been a team for the last two years. Paikea started competing, first at the Hunter level then fell in love with the Jumper division this past season. Paikea and Lady are looking forward to another show season together with the goal of competing in the .9m jumpers
