Happy Whisker Wednesday from Nelson! 🖤Nelson is a handsome, 1-year-old guy who came to us as his family could no longer care for him. He is a big sweetheart and is definitely best-friend material! He is vocal and likes to meow at us for attention, and he has a great purr-motor when he gets pets and scritches. 🥰 He also has some playful energy and likes to chase the wand toy. Happy Tuesday from Jack! Jack is still searching for his furever home after three months with us - he came in as a 4-month-old puppy, which means he’s spent nearly half of his life in the shelter environment. ❤️‍🩹 We’d love to help him find his furever home soon, and would also be open to a foster placement for him. 🐾

As far as his personality goes, Jack is an overall good boy! 😊 He is a big lovebug and absolutely adores being with people - he likes to flop on your feet and will roll over so you can give him all the belly rubs. 🥰 He’s a favorite of our volunteer dog-walkers and has become a good walking buddy - he nicely sits so you can put his leash on, and loves his time outside. He’s a sweet and gentle boy (with some playful puppy energy of course) who deserves a home to call his own. Please send in an adoption application if you think Jack could be the one for you, or a foster application if you’d like to give him a break from the shelter!

Happy Meownday from these newly-adoptable kittens! Kisses, Smooch, Hugs, and Cuddles were born at the shelter in December, and have been raised in foster care. 🥰 Now they’re ready for their furever homes! These cuties are definitely a playful bunch, they love chasing the wand toy, batting toys across the floor, and wrestling with each other. Once they’re tired out they will curl up in their foster mom’s lap for a snuggle. ❤️ They would love to go home in pairs, or to homes where there’s a playful cat they can befriend! Thank you to K9 Mobile Nails & Grooming Inc. for another donation! At this past Saturday’s clinic, they did 45 nail trims and raised $240 - which they used to purchase dog toys for the shelter pups. ❤️

They have a clinic this Saturday, February 15th at the Pet Valu on Trunk Road - check out the info on their flyer, and stop by if your cat or dog needs a nail trim! Support a local business while also helping the shelter animals. 😺🐶🐾

Happy Sunday Funday from Stud! Stud is still searching for his furever home - could you be the one he’s waiting for? These are pictures of Stud from when he had a nice break from the shelter for a bit in a foster home - we are also open to another foster placement for him! Stud is a good boy who loves to be around people. He’s a big, strong guy who doesn’t realize his size sometimes - you do have to watch what you leave on the counter, and he needs to be secured or monitored outside as he managed to jump the fence in the snow. 🫣 Thankfully he has great recall and came right back! 😆 He is a lovebug who will take all of the pets and cuddles you’ll give him, and he does have separation anxiety so would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time. Happy Caturday from Leela! Leela is a cute kitten with a big personality. 😺 She was found outside as a young kitten and received lots of love and care at the shelter. She is now about 5-months-old and so ready for her furever home. ❤️

We recently placed her in foster care so she could get a break from the shelter and experience what life in a home environment is like - she is loving it! Her foster mom sent us these adorable photos to share, and has nothing but great things to say about Leela. Leela is a big sweetheart who is both playful and affectionate! She will let you know when she wants your attention, she loves people. 🥰 She does great with other cats and quickly befriended the resident cats in her foster home! She likes to “help” her foster get work done by being a backrest on the computer chair. 😆 She is used to dogs, cats, and kids in her foster home!

Our Happy Tail on this Feel Good Friday is from a senior dog who was adopted from us over five years ago, and is still living her best life! ❤️ Her humans reached out to us with this wonderful update:

“Our family adopted Remi on the May long weekend in 2019 when she was 9-years-old. She had surgery that summer for a torn ligament in her back leg and she has been like a giant puppy ever since! She loves walks, new toys, barking out the window at passerby’s, and most importantly, food. She tolerates her younger puppy brother but loves to play in the snow with him. She will be 15 this year and we hope to have more birthdays with her. She brings us joy every day! She is still full of s***k and shows us endless love. Never forget about the older dogs at the shelter, they can still live such long and happy lives.”

We are so thankful for adopters who decide to give a happy furever to our older shelter pets - this is a great example of the awesome lives they can go on to lead. 🥰 Thank you to Remi’s family for giving her a soft place to land, and for sharing this update with us! 🐾

We’ve got some newly-adoptable kittens for you on this Whisker Wednesday! 😺 Clementine, Blackberry, Papaya, and Kiwi have been in a wonderful foster home the past few weeks, and are now adoption-ready. 🥰 These four are all a good combination of friendly and playful! Happy Tail Wagging Tuesday from Tucker! Tucker is a cute, 4-month-old collie/lab mix pup who is searching for her furever home. ❤️ She can be a little shy at first, but you can tell that with just a little love and patience she is ready to be your best friend! She’s a big fan of soft treats, and although she wasn’t quite sure what to do with toys at first, she’s becoming a fan of squeaky toys. She doesn’t seem to have had any leash experience prior to coming to us, but she’s learning quickly and eager to please. With just a bit of consistency and positive reinforcement around basic training, we know Tucker will be the perfect companion! Please apply if you’d like to meet her. 🐾

Happy Meownday from these two cuties! Moochu (F) and Prince (M) were recently brought to us to find their furever homes. (They have two other siblings who need a bit more socializing before they’re ready for adoption, but we hope to get them posted soon. 🤞🏻) These two are sweet, friendly, playful kittens! We get a lot of questions about how to adopt, so here’s some information on our process! Please feel free to call the office any day between 12-5 with any questions or to check on the status of your application.

We learned during our closure for Covid that the animals are so much happier/less-stressed without people wandering through their rooms throughout the day, and our priority is their wellbeing. By limiting visits to those with approved adoption applications, it has positively impacted the animals’ experience - and on top of happier animals, it hasn’t had a negative impact on our adoptions! Thank you for your understanding. 😺🐶❤️🐾

Happy Sunday Funday from Jake! Jake is a sweet husky/shepherd mix who came to us to find his furever home. 🐾 He’s a playful guy who likes to spend his outside time exploring in the yard and following his nose! He absolutely loves to be around people and seems like he’d be the best snuggle-buddy. ❤️ Sometimes he gets a bit excited - we’ve been working with him on not jumping up (he gets very excited to say hello!) and also on not pulling on his leash. With a little bit of positive reinforcement we know he can learn quickly. Please apply if you’d like to meet him!

The shelter cats and dogs enjoyed some special treats today! 🎄❤️🐾

Christmas came early for the shelter dogs this year! Our friends at Pet Valu collected toys for the shelter pets, and invited us to their Second Line location to let some of the dogs choose their Christmas toys! K9 Mobile Nails and Grooming also donated $5 from each nail trim done at their December clinic to purchase toys for the dogs. 🐾 Check out a fun video of the dogs who came with us to pick a toy out! This features Mojo, Sasha, Jack, and Daniel. ❤️ We gave a new toy to each shelter dog as well, and still had extra for our toy bin! Happy Pawlidays!

For National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day, we wanted to highlight Zoey! Zoey has been in our care for 18 months now and is still searching for her furever home. She did have a nice break from the shelter in foster care - she loves going on adventures, is a great hiking buddy, likes riding in the car, and is a general snuggly lovebug! She does need to be the only pet in the home due to some protective behaviors, but she does okay with a structured introduction for outside playtime with other dogs. If you can help us give Zoey her happy furever, please apply! We're also open to another foster placement for her in the meantime!

Little Foot has been searching for her furever home for just over a year now. ❤️‍🩹We know that taking on a diabetic pet can seem daunting, so here's a quick video showing how easily it is to administer insulin! Little Foot is being fostered by one of our team members and her personality has really come out since she got out of the shelter. She can be playful and spunky, and she really enjoys being around people. Little Foot doesn't like other pets, so she'd be a great in a home where she can be the star of the show. Please apply if you'd like to meet her - we'll arrange a meet-and-greet at her foster home. 😺🐾
