The Adult Enrichment Center is Sault Ste. Marie's newest day program for adults with developmental disabilities.

Our goal is to provide your loved one with a safe and enjoyable environment where they can go and be free to be who they want to be. Our programming is individualized according to needs, abilities, and passions of each individual in the program. They will have the opportunity to enhance and develop their life skills and academics, be integrated into the community, and become prepared for a transit

ional period if required. We are also connected to many resources within the community that may be of assistance to the individuals within the program.

The AEC in SSM are always busy doing something. We have cooking lessons in the kitchen, trips to the library, learning how to budget, and a visit to the pet store to learn how to tend to fish in an aquarium, graciously donated by one of our amazing parents. We go to the YMCA for a swim and the park to feed the ducks with duck friendly food, a picnic and a treat at the Trading Post for ice cream.

The AEC in SSM celebrated National Indigenous People Day on June 21st. We want to thank Samantha for participating and Sylvia for all your hard work. They made ribbon skirts and this is one example.

The AEC will be acknowledging and celebrating National Indigenous Day Friday June 21st. We thank the Creator for this beautiful country, the foods that grow from the Earth, the fish that swim in the waters, the clean air we breathe and the wonderful people who originated on these lands.

The AEC in SSM has been very busy this week! Our focus has been gardening. If you buy vegetables you can eat for a day, if you grow them you could eat all summer and beyond! Gardening is an important life skill and our participants really enjoy it!
