Video of I mean when I say my dog likes to hunt…..
( sorry for the heavy breathing, I had just stopped from a mid jog when we seen the rabbit)
Don’t worry, he didn’t get it, just had fun trying!

The short snippet I took was the tail end of a great class.
Chase and Bruce both went for a walk on the boardwalk closely walking past people, dogs and bikes. Both of their parents were elated on how well they did. When they first saw each other, they did have an initial blowup upon seeing another dog who’s not happy to see you either.
However with some movements and pass-byes, in know time they were able to ignore each other and we started our stroll downtown with great success.
I couldn’t be more proud!

It may not look like much, but this is the closest Chase has been to another dog in years! His mom has been working on chases reactivity with both people and dogs. This was his first actual walk with Cooper and we decided to challenge him a little more with some social exercises! He did have trouble keeping in stay at first, so we kept the sessions short and sweet so he could succeed and celebrate those quick wins! His mom still has some work to do but he’s definitely coming along! #behaviourmod #dogtrainertips #trainthewrightway #dogsofinstagram
To say my heart is broke is an understatement. Saying goodbye to Denali last weekend and then you today shattered me. I always said if you lived till 10 it would be a miracle, and a miracle you gave me. I would never be half the person or trainer I am without the lessons you put me through. It wasn’t all rainbows but it didn’t matter because you always had the best attitude about life. My protector and partner, my friend and family. You were a lot of dog for most but you gave just as much as you took. I treasure every moment I had with you, and you changed how I viewed the world and relationships more than you could ever imagine. To say you will be missed is an understatement. You definitely took a piece of my soul with you but I hope to get it back one day. RIP Thor my “little” boy…
Chase did amazing when working with his reactivity at home. He’s a very insecure/sensitive dog that has learned that using his mouth gets what he wants. He did have his moments of trying to attack through the fence, but ultimately we got more of these peaceful cycles of training in this session than the aggressive responses in the class. His mom has a lot of work to do, but Chase is coming along nicely!
Bogie the 6 month old bouvier des flandres is working on heel with his dad. His parents have had bouviers all their lives but never one like Bogie! Now in their mid-70’s any jumping/mouthing was causing skin to tear and bleed as well as potential for life threatening falls. And so bogies parents enrolled him in my ecollar obedience course to get their rambunctious puppy under control before he got too big. They report he’s no longer jumping/mouthing and has so much better manners with them at home!
Great turnout and weather for a Packwalk today! Such a great group of people to get to know and do a safe social with. Next Packwalk is Sunday May 26th ( after the long weekend). See you next time!!

Today Justice worked on some close distraction recalls off Copper and then we decided to practice some scent recalls with a 75 foot line on her. At a different location we probably would have been fine with her off leash, but it’s been rabbit galore where we have been working and I want to build a solid recall off scent and excitement before we practice pulling her off running prey. It was a challenge at first to call her off Cooper but once she got it, that seemed to be it, and did a wonderful job recalling in the bush. She’s such a fun dog with a wonderful dog mom! #trainwrightdogtraining #trainthewrightway #dogs #dogsofinstagram
Milo working on heel
In this video, you’ll see Milo working on a duration heel. Just like I’ve stated in previous videos, I never teach with the Ecollar, but I do make commands clearer with it. Whenever the dog is learning, we are on very low levels to not put any pressure on the dog, especially if they are unsure about what we want. in this video, Milo was doing amazing learning duration heel with the guidance of the Ecollar and the leash. Using the Ecollar on a very low level, mom would tap ecollar just before she’d turn or if there was pressure on the leash from him pulling forward or pulling away. These small guidances for the dog makes this exercise so much clearer. Milo Absolutely loved the additional feedback from the Ecollar, and as you can see from the video, did an excellent job at heeling and keeping attention to his mom

Many people don’t realize that mistakes are what makes good dog training. I want my clients to allow mistakes in order to teach the dog the correct behaviour. When mistakes are back is when they are reinforced! What do I mean by that? It means the dog was able to get what they wanted by making a mistake, those are BAD mistakes that work against you. In this video you’ll see hazel running over to see me after her mom has put her in a place command and I back up so she doesn’t receive any reward for breaking (she will be allowed to greet me after the exercise is successful), and her mom uses the ecollar on an annoying level to get her attention easier (hazels had some reps on this exercise prior to this video so she’s at an annoyance ecollar level). Pairing the ecollar with the food allows for mistakes and learning to occur much quicker than only using a reward or only using a correction ever could. The only thing that needed after a great session like this is a break and a repeat. Repetition with a variety of people entering the home will start to proof the behaviour and create consistency in nearly any situation. I know, Dog training takes hard work! #trainwright #trainthrwrightway #dogtrainer #dogtrainertips #dogsofinstagram #dogstagram #dogos #dog #dogtrainingadvice
Tilly has learned the basics of the ecollar for recall. Tonight we went into layering the ecollar into all the different commands she already knows. To be clear- we do not teach any command with the ecollar, instead the ecollar makes the known commands clearer to the dog. Tilly is working on an extremely low level that she can barely feel when she’s learning. You always want to train fair and give lots of rewards when teaching something new. Tilly seemed to really enjoy the challenge! #trainthewrightway #trainwright #dogtraining #dogtrainertips
Wonderful walk with some friends! Little known fact about Cooper; he loooves children and of course other dogs! #trainwright #trainwrightdogtraining #dogtrainer #dogsofinstagram
Always be your dogs cheerleader! After a few weeks of being ill, Thors feeling good enough to play a light game of fetch. I always encourage and praise with lots of communication in our games. It fosters a great relationship and connection between handler and dog. #trainwright #trainthewrightway #dogtraining #dogsofinstagram
Chase working with Cooper
Chase did awesome work with cooper night- although you couldn’t see much of him in the videos he was a great distraction dog to start Chase with!
For those wondering, We started out with distance recalls from 75+ feet away off of cooper a few classes ago and how we are starting to close the gap in proximity.
So exciting to see such great progress!
Chase did amazing last night! He blew Cyndy ( his mom) and I away at how well he did with not reacting to me walking by, circling and stopping close to him.
Chase only has one human he loves he tolerates and corrects with a nip or growl, and if your a stranger well.. 😬
Chase has been learning to tolerate walking past people, around and stopping by people. He’s doing pretty fabulously tonight and we even got some work in around another dog which was huge!
Don’t fool yourself, his mom has worked her rear off to get these great results with Chase!
I’ll post more as he progresses!
More of today’s Packwalk! All are welcome ☺️
