Missing these days already. But also getting excited about winter season, ba****ck rides in the snow and hot chocolates in front of the wood stove. There is a season for everything, right?

We offer trail rides year around, so if you are looking for a fall adventure let us know and the horses will be happy to explore with you!

Sage always knows when we start getting the horses ready. It’s her favourite time of day when she gets to tag along, finding every muddy puddle there is from here to Atikokan and tirelessly attempting to catch rabbits (very unsuccessfully). Happy dogs make for happy owners.

Golden hour on the pasture. Now that the nights are getting cooler our horses are less bothered by bugs and enjoy the evenings out in the field. We are so blessed to be able to offer them fresh grass all summer long. They spend their days foraging and moving constantly, which keeps their minds and bodies occupied.

Our veggie garden is a big part of the ranch during the summer time. Many hours are spent in here weeding, pruning and harvesting. Every year is different and every year we learn something new.

~ Our herd ~🐴

There are 15 horses currently at the ranch. Most are Canadian horses, known for their sensible nature and friendly attitude. We also have a couple of Alberta mustangs. Our resident Canadian stallion, Jetson, has sired all of our young horses.

~ Our home ~🏡

More than a ranch, this is a place of hope. Many come through, some just for a few hours, others for several months, but no matter how long you are here for, we hope your life is touched in some way.

I don't think kids nowadays know what an apron is. The principle use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath because she only had a few. It was also because it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and aprons used less material. But along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven. It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears. From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven. When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids.. And when the weather was cold, Grandma wrapped it around her arms. Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove. Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron. From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls. In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees. When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds. When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men folk knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner. It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that 'old-time apron' that served so many purposes. Send this to those who would know (and love) the story about Grandma's aprons. REMEMBER: Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool. Her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill to thaw. They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs were on that apron. I don't think I ever caught anything from an apron - but love ❤

Morning Mantra: “Your happiness is not determined by what life brings you, but by the attitude you bring to life.”

Attitude is everything. It can make a good day feel bad and make a bad day feel good. It can determine how hard you try, or how little you care. It can open doors for you or build walls.

There are many things in life you don’t get a choice about, but your attitude is one of the things you do.

I think we’d be surprised at what life would look like if we kept it simple.

& at what God could do if we let Him.

if we cared more about Him than just living to please ourselves
if we took His Word to heart and lived by it.

His ways bring life but living just for ourselves does the opposite.

so if you’re finding yourself worried, anxious, purposeless, striving for “more”, unhappy with what you have; we’ve probably over complicated life.
because following the Lord simplifies it,
living for ourself consumes us.

& if I’ve learned anything over these past thirty years; it’s that God is faithful.

so may we keep it simple;
find joy in the Lord,
live purposefully right where you are,
look for ways to go the extra mile for others,
be faithful with the “little”,
make the most out of the ordinary,
& truly read Gods Word, not just others opinions of it.

keep praying,
look for the good in the hard & opportunities to become more like Christ because of it.
put in the effort,
smile more & cultivate a thankful heart.

“low expectations & greater appreciation”
not lower expectations that make you settle, but lower expectations of what you expect that God should give you and a greater appreciation for all He has given you.

to live full of faith that we can expect God to do great things, even in our sinfulness but to not expect Him to be our servant.
rather to live with an expectation that God is God, we are not & He can do great things, not simply “for us” but in us.

because after these short years,
I’ve come to see that Gods ways bring life, not apart from Him.
& that His plans are far greater than anything I could have made happen myself.
& my prayer for the years to come is I would live expecting less and loving the Lord more.
that I would be faithful and humbly,
that I wouldn’t bring a list of demands but a heart of gratefulness because of all He’s done for me - redeeming a sinner like me who deserves nothing from a gracious God.

but here I am, because of His kindness.
so may we let the Lord surprise us at how good He truly is, living for Him.
not pushing our own agenda but joyfully seeking to be apart of His, right where we are & with what He’s given us 💛

I’ve never bought into “if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life”

it’s part of life that there will be work.
& it shouldn’t be whether something feels like work or not, that determines your attitude, “happiness”, or whether what you’re doing is valuable.

I don’t believe God made us to just get what we want,
but that in living for Him; life gets greater meaning.

I’ve heard it said that we were all made with a God sized hole in us that many will try to fill with everything but Him.

so there will always be time where we’ll long for something else; perfect, easy + peaceful.
that place y’all is Heaven.
we won’t find it here, so don’t push away the hard but rather seek God through it.

that doesn’t mean that life won’t be great but it means we won’t find what we’re looking for apart from the giver of life; the Lord.

so repeat Biblical Truths often;
that it’s faithfulness over quick fixes,
what we are waiting for over what we see;
that “life” isn’t found in getting a “dream job”, someone to love you or whatever it is that you think will make you _________.

because I know first hard that no matter how “perfect” life can seem, it’ll never fill what God intended to be His; our hearts.

& that spurs me on to roll with the punches, to trust God with the process & to stop seeing challenges as “against me” and rather know that God is Sovereign and if He’s allowed it to come my way, He’ll walk with me through it.

for even the things we love will have days it’ll feel like work but don’t let that make you quit.

Marriage, Raising kids, New things, Dream Jobs, Success, whatever it is for you; will feel like work at times but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing.
live with little expectations and cling to Christ.

for when we focus more on what we already have through Him; the hope of eternity & redemption.
we can actually live more wholeheartedly because we’re not seeking something to fulfill us that isn’t meant to.
whatever it is that we chase after that leaves us discouraged, hurt, bitter, always needing “more”.

find joy in the Lord & do the hard work as if for Him. there’s something that comes from hard things endured faithfully, keep going 💛
