I make purses, canvas totes and hooked rugs to support the charity, the Atlantic Wildlife Institute. It depends on the design. can I put it on flap.

Kathy With a "K" makes unique purses mainly from repurposed materials from thrift shops. Each purse is unique, adjustable straps, quilted, lined, pockets, washable in cold water/hang to dry, medium (9x10" approx) to large (12x12" approx).Clutch size available. I have taken orders for wedding purses in colours of wedding party and I'm just starting to make MEMORY PURSES. I have a sweater of my Dad'

s and I'm going to make it the flap of a purse for me. One woman is going to give me her old shirt with lighthouses to put as a flap. DENIM Jean colours are mainly light/dark blue, occasionally black, brown. Other purses can be brown, black, grey heavy fabric. PICTURE "PURSE"IC PURSES - Many have asked if they bring me a photo of dog/cat , grandchild event, family, favorite place , etc. (in progress) LOYALTY PURSES - Flap with school/college, flag, family, colors. For Example - Many have aslked for Acadian flap of blue, white, red colors with star (in progress)

Today, The Shediac Craft Shop was so busy that I had to wait to get in to restock my Wildwomen Crafts display. With Lynne, John and Barb's help, we finally restocked. Here are 5 new purses added to the already stock

Wildwomen Crafts - Just dropped off Cross-body purses at Shediac Craft Shop in time for Lobster Festival. PS: And to carry all the extras you buy at the shop, get a Wildwoman heavy duty canvas market bag with prints of Maritime animals and AWI logo. Also check out Atlantic Wildlife shelf full of stuffies. Proceeds from purses and bags go to the Atlantic Wildlife Institute (AWI only rehabilitation centre in N.B.). And 100% of stuffies sales go to AWI. Today shop is open until 10pm with music and other activities. Thank you John, Lynne, Emily and Ashley for working extra hours for the vendors.

On Saturday, added new dragon, haunted, Nevermore, Batik and Steampunk cross-body purses at the Shediac Craft Shop. Handy for carrying lots of items from cell phone to overnight items, from glasses to keys and much more. washable, foldable, great for travel. So unique in design (my own design) and a fabric design for every purse-in-ality! Also reduced price of all Market Bags (heavy duty canvas) to $40 no matter the size.

Wildwomen Crafts has been busy getting ready for The Witchery craft fair in PEI on June 15th/24 from 12-5. It is being held at the Guild on 111 Queen Street, Charlottetown. I'm excited to meet new friends as this is my first craft fair in PEI. Here's a few of the cross-body purses available. PS: I take cash, debit and credit cards.

Special order just completed and ready for hanging. Blue jays, like all muses on 100% wool hooked rugs by Wildwomen Crafts, have been patients at the Atlantic Wildlife Institute in Cookville, N.B. AWI is the only licensed wildlife rehabilitation in N.B. (each province is responsible for licensing). The sale of this hooked rug goes to support the work of AWI, a charity. Here's why I dropped in to the Shediac Craft Shop to drop off new items. Kestrel hooked rug was SOLD from an on-line photo I posted as well as the all-over paisley dog purse SOLD. But paisley dog face purse is still looking for a forever home!

I just finished another hooked rug with a subject that has been a patient at the Atlantic Wildlife Institute in Cookville, N.B. BUT, it's already been SOLD. WOW. When my muses are wildlife that's been in the care of AWI at one time or another, I'm never short of what to make next. Thank you LC. It will be at the Shediac Craft Shop for you to pick up. Thank you also because the sale goes to support the work of the Atlantic Wildlife Institute , a charity.

Just heading out to the Moncton Coliseum for the Moncton Kennel Club dog show. May 26-28, Friday 1-4, Sat/Sun 9-3. Vivian and I will be there with bird houses, crochet dish cloths, purses, rug hooking, Atlantic Wildlife Institute hats-stuffies-neck-totes-tshirts. All in support of the Atlantic Wildlife Institute. Come on down and support both the MKC and AWI. Next week there will be new addition of our crafts at the Shediac Craft Shop!

Our good friends from Little Cape Construction starting our first of many renovations end of May in 2013 🔨

It’s surreal seeing pictures of what The Sandbar use to look like compared to what we have now-we think all of you will be pretty impressed and blown away ☀️

We open for The Summer of 2023 this Friday at 4:00pm and will be open for lunch and mostly regular hours going forward ⛵️

My Story

Kathy With a "K" makes unique purses mainly from repurposed materials found in thrift shops. I enjoy spending hours in a thrift shop searching for materials I can use to create a unique purse. Whatever the design or fabric, every purse has an adjustable strap (the + feature for all sizes of wearers); are quilted, lined, pockets, many washable in cold water/hang to dry. Average sizes are medium (9x10" approx) to large (12x12" approx) depending on flap design. Clutch size is available. Denim Jean colours are mainly black, light/dark blue, occasionally grey or brown. I started making purses from repurposed blankets, blazers, suits and so forth. Go to my page Maker of Purses to view the vast array of purse designs and materials available.

Although my purses are not totally from recycled materials, most of the fabric in them such as repurposed jeans, jackets, blouses, curtains, pillows, belts etc. are from Thrift stores or donations from friends etc. . The #2 polluter in the world, second to carbon/oil industry and products (such as plastics) , is the clothing industry, especially the fashion industry. In the past, clothing that has not sold in stores was burned instead of lowering prices or recycling at thrift store locations. (See Forbes and other web sites for further clarification and information). So thrift stores and, in a very small way, my purses are helping to reduce global pollution. When you buy a purse from Maker of Purses, Kathy with a K, Grande Digue, you still get practicality, functionality, uniqueness, beauty, fun, wearability, reasonable prices while helping reduce global pollution. Someday, maybe, gov'ts and businesses will invest in repurposed, handmade, local goods. Take care of you and others.
