With these skyrocketing temperatures, our SPCA Enforcement Team are out patrolling parking lots today. 🚗 Please keep your pet safe and cool inside at home. High temperatures make it difficult for pets to cool themselves and heatstroke can be fatal. 💔

If you see a pet in a hot car, remember to ACT. A-C-T. ❗

A – Assess the situation. Signs that a pet may be in distress from overheating include exaggerated panting, rapid breathing, drooling, dark pink gums, lack of coordination, inability to get up, vomiting, convulsions or collapse. 😿
C – Collect information. Note relevant information about the vehicle (make, model, license plate, colour, exact location) and pet’s description (species, size, colour, breed if known). 🚗🐾
T – Time to call. ☎️ If you cannot find the owner and the animal is in distress, call your local police, RCMP, or the Nova Scotia SPCA at 1-888-703-7722 and stay at the vehicle until reinforcements arrive.

2 years ago we reopened the doors to Coastal Tails - We started with two dogs on one day..Today is 2 years, we average 16 dogs per day & have over 150 dogs registered. Hey! Sabrina Burroughs here. I want to thank you for taking interest in my adventure- Coastal Tails. I wanted to write a little something to let you know what Coastal Tails is all about. I graduated college as a Veterinary Assistant in 2015. I did my first job placement at a dog daycare in Halifax, in early 2015. That was where I absolutely fell in love with the idea of someday being able to own my own dog daycare/ dog and cat boarding facility. I set that goal, and kept it as my main goal for the last three years. I’ve worked at a few different veterinary hospitals, then in November of 2018 I was finally able to get the building I have wanted for the last two years (since moving to Shelburne to work at Shelburne Veterinary Hospital) It is absolutely perfect for your pets. 3,600 sq feet of playing area, a large fence outside, heated floors, and so much more (Thank you Beulah Burman for your love of animals). So, What will Coastal Tails be offering? Right now, Coastal Tails is offering a 24 hour service to you and your pets. Dog daycare when you’re working, boarding for your dogs and cats when you’re on vacation, nail trims, and dog walks.
