With the long weekend rapidly approaching, we want to remind our clients that the clinic will be closed on Monday, July 1st and Tuesday, July 2nd. We will resume our regular hours (8am-4pm Monday-Friday) on Wednesday, July 3rd.

Please note that we require 24 hours notice on medication or supply requests and some items may take longer, depending on availability. If you are in need of any medication or supplies, please contact the clinic (through email or call 587-742-1495) as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate your request before the holiday.

After almost 5 years, our receptionist Jodie will be leaving our clinic. Jodie has been with Momentum from the start and we are sad to see her go. We wish her the very best in her new role.

“It’s been a fabulous journey working at Momentum Equine and a bittersweet moment to have to say goodbye to all of the amazing staff here. Most of you know me by my voice/accent but I’ve had the pleasure to meet many of you face to face over the years. We are looking to add a full-time receptionist to join our team at Momentum Equine. Working as a client care specialist at a specialty surgery clinic is a unique working experience. You will be responsible for managing two surgeons’ schedules while handling all communications that come through. High priority tasks include inventory data entry, prescription requests as well as accounts receivable. You will also have the opportunity to lend a helping hand during exam appointments, assist in hospitalized patient care, cleaning stalls and other clinic maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a vet clinic, (equine experience would be a bonus), work well in a team, have excellent communication skills and customer services skills. It’s important to plan ahead when deciding to castrate your c**t. Our surgeons perform castrations at our hospital and can also provide them on farm. Additional methods of castration for more complicated cases such as cryptorchids or mature stallions (>2 years) are also available. Please contact our office for more information!

Equine Surgery referrals

At our hospital, we have state-of-the art equipment to perform equine surgery services. We also have a large facility that allows us to provide exceptional care for your horse 24-hours 7-days a week, with high-quality nursing and veterinary staff. Horses are referred to a specialist by the attending veterinarian, but it is also reasonable for owners to suggest or seek a referral. There are a number of things that are easier to do at a hospital or can only be done at a hospital. These include complex surgeries, continuous administration of intravenous fluids and other medications, and continuous and complex monitoring of patients. We have laboratory equipment on-site, allowing frequent and rapid laboratory evaluation (blood work) that is absolutely critical in managing very sick horses. At Momentum our equine specialty veterinarians are able examine your horse and consult with your regular veterinarian to discuss difficult cases.

Firstly, we would like to say a huge thank you to all that took the time to donate or bid on an item during our auction for Dr. Conrad. We raised over an astonishing $50k. This far exceeded what we had hoped for. The horse community really pulled together to support the Wilgenbusch family and we can’t thank you enough. We are praying for a strong recovery for Conrad through this next year of healing.

A pre-purchase examination allows the buyer to understand the health and fitness of the horse and to identify conditions which may affect the horse’s ability to undertake the activity the buyer intends for the horse. Because all horses are individuals and each buyer’s expectations are different, clear communication between the buyer and the veterinarian is essential to ensure that the veterinarian understands the intended use of the horse and tailors their examination to the purchaser’s requirements.
As well as the clinical examination of the horse, it is common for additional procedures such as Radiographs (X-Rays), Ultrasonography (Scans) and Endoscopy (Scoping) to be performed at the request of the purchaser or based on the findings of the examination. Our veterinarians are able to perform a pre-purchase examination on a horse or that is an existing patient of our practice if there is no conflict of interest and if the vendor agrees to allow the horse’s veterinary records and details to be made available to the purchaser.

1 year ago today we moved into our facility! What an amazing year we have had!

Thank you to all of our clients who have used our services on referral or as your primary veterinarian. We appreciate the other vet clinics who have forwarded on cases to be looked at by our specialists.

Thank you to our amazing Team at Momentum. We have dedicated technicians and office staff that have been a huge part to our success as a surgery practice. And finally, Dr. Conrad and Dr. Tara who’s skills and knowledge as board certified surgeons are the key to Momentum’s success! Their dedication to provide excellent care to performance horses is what made this all possible!
