I was the only one at the table who said I would do all the same th

ings except I wouldn't quit my job. I said I would invest in my veterinary practise and continue practising. Anybody who knows me would not be even a little bit surprised by my response. I absolutely love what I do and have never felt like I have worked a day in my life. Until that dinner party, I had not realized what a gift I had, to love my work. I want to spend the remainder of my career practising in my own community and contributing something back to this wonderful group of people who have shaped this lovely rural neighbourhood. Our community is a joy to live in, a paradise for our children and full of people who love animals as much as I do.

Introducing our newest rescue kittens !
Wanda and Scarlett 💞

They are both looking for their forever families and indoor only homes. Both are females and have started to come out of their shells! Each of them have had their first set of vaccines so far and have been tested for feline leukemia and FIV which were negative 😇Wanda loves to talk to you and is quite affectionate, Scarlett is a little more on the shy side but is food motivated, with lots of quality time and affection she will come around 😁Both girls are still friendly. They have not been introduced to any other pets however with proper introduction they should be able to co- home in a multi cat household. If you have any dogs they would prefer a household with calm dogs, since they are a little shy.

Dwayne is very excited to be spending the Holidays with his foster family. He’s been loving getting into the holiday spirit with some accessories (and lots of treats)❤️

The clinic is closed Sunday December 22nd to Sunday December 28th, and on January 1st. We are open regular hours December 30-31st.

Greetings to All Our Wonderful Pet Owners!

We wanted to make sure everyone knows our hours for the holiday season:

Thursday, December 19th: is the last day to order food/medications for pick up before the holidays.

Clinic is closed December 22nd through December 29th.

We are closed Wednesday, January 1st for New Years.

Then it's back to regular business with our Dental Health Month Program running January through April.

HLAH Hospital Gossip!

We have lots of new faces on our team in 2024 and so excited to have a full roster of amazing Registered Veterinary Technologists - it's a luxury many practises don't enjoy these days so we feel incredibly grateful.

Our RVT team is Trista, Ashley, Nikky who joined us this year, Abigail Crandall a 2025 Lakeland grad who joined us this year, Miranda a 2025 NAIT grad who did her practicum with us and never left and most recently Lynn a 2024 NAIT grad who joins us from specialty practise in the city. Trina has officially started her maternity leave and will be returning April 2026 - we already miss her!

Miranda is developing the nutrition program at our practise and if you have any nutrition questions she is definitely the source. She is extremely knowledgeable about all the retail and veterinary diets and can help you pick a great diet for your pet, figure out how much to feed or formulate a homemade diet if that's what is best for your pet.

Dr. Josephine Wong has joined us as well working part time alongside Dr. Karen Allen. Dr. Wong is a certified veterinary chiropractor so we are looking forward to connecting our patients with her to get them moving better and more comfortable in 2025.

Dr. Karen is just finishing off a five week Backyard Chicken Medicine course and is super excited to see our chicken patients. Like...SUPER excited! (we have more than a few chicken enthusiasts on staff!)

Our Saturday hours reintroduced in January of 2024 have been a big hit and fill up quickly with our regulars and always some emergencies. Our university students - Valerie, Justin & Amelia - hold down the fort on Saturdays with the RVTs rotating through.

The Cat Clinic ran in October 2024 and we spayed/neutered ONE HUNDRED CATS - yippee! That has to put a dent in the cats numbers in our rural community.

Amelia ran a busy Kids Camp summer program for our aspiring veterinarians and RVTs - as always those spots filled up quickly and the kids had an amazing experience.

So that's been 2024 in a nutshell!

We are so grateful for each and every one of you and very much appreciate the support of our little community practise! Thankyou so much.

Hello everyone ! Mr.Jack was in today for his annual exam and vaccines. He just wanted to remind everyone to look ahead and check if you need any prescription refills or if you will be needing to order any food before we are closed for the holidays !
Please allow atleast 2 buisness days for any food orders to arrive and for prescriptions to be filled 😇

The clinic will be closed Monday December 23rd to Sunday December 29th
We will return to our regular business hours December 30th, 31st, January 2nd and 3rd. We will be closed Wednesday January 1st for New Year’s Day. 🎄❄️☃️

Ali had a caudal mastectomy to treat for a small nodule that was mammary cancer and we got the great news that the surgical margins are clean!❤️ She didn’t have any spread of the cancer yet either. ❤️❤️
She was in very good spirits today for her suture removal with our RVT Miranda.
Ali has had puppies and of course a number of heat cycles so it is important to palpate the mammary glands monthly for any nodules. We biopsy all mammary nodules to screen for cancer since early surgical intervention is key.

Luna - the sweetest tripod ❤ - is ready for adoption! She has been getting very used to life on three legs and is doing great! She is 9 years old. She loves to make biscuits, chirp, and purr!

Some dogs need sedation for nail trims, some need trazodone and some well….just need cuddles💕💕. Lucy rocking her pedicure!
