If you aren't on my personal page you may not have seen these babies yet.

8 days ago I got a call about 4 cottontail kits that where without a mother as the family cat had killed her. These 4 babies where about 2 weeks old and very skinny. They are not about 3 weeks old and starting to eat solids, explore outside and act like mini adults. 4 days ago I got another message about 5 kits needing help. This mama made her nest in a duck house and when the ducks moved back in for the summer the nest and babies got trampled. Their mama unfortunately did not return for them. They had tics and where very hungry. Today they are about 11 days old, their eyes just started opening yesterday and no matter how hard I try to keep them in their own nest they always seem to find the bigger babies and join them. So now all 9 share a nest and none of them seem to mind.

* you may see some colour in their ears, that is so I know who is who. I can track their eating habits and weight*

This little rescue litter is ready to find their forever families.
They have been well socialized with children aged 6months to 10+ years, they did multiple daycare visits through norfolk county including some March break camps. They where also handled daily from birth to make sure they where well socialized with not only people but other animals. They have been around dogs and love to pester our cats.
All are weaned and doing well on pellets, hay and fruits/veggies. We have started desensiting them to grooming with 2 nail trims so far and for those that have the lionhead fluff a light brushing.

If you are interested in adopting one or even two of these babies into your home please pm me. I do have an adoption policy and a question form to be filled out before adoption approval. I also like to have you come visit before bringing them home to make sure you are the perfect fit for one another.

Adoption fee to be discussed

Did you know that February is Adopt a Rescued Rabbit Month? There are many homeless rabbits at animal rescues and shelters who need loving forever families to call their own. If you would like to have a rabbit join your family, please remember to always do your research before bringing a rabbit (or any other type of pet) home so you know what he or she needs to have a healthy and happy life.

And with Easter coming up in about a month, we need to repeat the message that live rabbits are NOT appropriate gifts for Easter or any other occasion!

Here are some of the many rescues we have taken in over the years. Do you remember any of their story's?

We'd love to know your buns rescue story!

Move day was yesterday and the rabbits and guinea pigs handled it so well!

Wednesday before the move I had planned to pack up the barn and just let the herd stay outside until it started getting dark. That way they wouldn't have to be in the carriers so long. Well that plan was a bust as it was hailing and raining. They went out for a bit with a tarp over top just so I could quickly empty everything out and pack it away. Unfortunately the weather didn't let up so they had to go into their carriers by 3pm.

The herd did so well! They where in their carriers for 26 hours. They had hay and where offered veggies and fruits a couple times for being so well behaved. Some of the girls have not been in carriers or at least not for more then 30 minutes. Luckily we only moved a few blocks away! They where transported in the back of the truck and as soon as I possibly could I got their pen set up and let them loose to get out all their pent up energy.

Unfortunately the shed we hoped we could use temporarily for them while waiting for our new barn to be delivered was not going to work the way we hoped it would. For now we have a temporary setup for the girls to go outside through the day (until sunset) and then they go into their carriers at night with blankets covering them as the door on the shed doesn't fully close.

So far the herd seems perfectly fine with this arrangement, they've got their toys and tunnels, dog house, food, water, all you can eat grass and a gazebo for shade, rain cover and wind blocking. They do have to get used to the school bell that goes off a couple times a day. They do love the kids though and the kids seem to love seeing the rabbits at recces.

I know I haven't posted in a bit we've been very busy getting ready for the big move! It's just 9 days away! Here is a little update for all of you and I hope to be doing regular updates once we move and get all settled in.

Nubby and Olaf my two intact males are doing great, still inseparable. Since I rehomed the other 2 male guinea pigs Olaf has calmed down and is more relaxed.

Max, ruby and Arya I call my group of crazy butts. They love their cookies, getting into trouble and snuggles in bed. Ruby's ear has fully healed and she is 100% back to her crazy self.

The girls in the barn are all fat and healthy, needing to lose some of that winter weight lol. I've just recently packed up 90% of the barn leaving it super easy to pack up the night before the move and put all the girls into carriers. As of right now I still have Stella and she is back with the group but between me and my sister who feeds and waters everyday we've been keeping a close eye on her and her additude towards the other girls. With the move they will be getting a slightly smaller barn and if she can't stay in check she will likely be looking for a new home with no other rabbits.

The piggies in the barn are doing excellent, hope is still a chicken and prefers to hide when I'm in there, phoebe has a little bit more confidence, Athena the old lady loves her scratches and cashew the crazy pig loves getting into everything and nipping your feet. You wouldn't think it but these 4 girls run the barn, they will not shy from telling the rabbits to move when they want something lol.

Spoken for.

Well loved run, free.
I can get exact measurements this weekend, has removable top panels, large door on the end. Wired with chicken wire all the way around including the bottom so rabbits cant dig out but still get to grass. You will need a truck or trailer to get it home. It may also need some patch work, I haven't used it in a few years. I had a continental giant living in it, my large dog could go in it no problem and I can also crawl all the way in for easy cleaning.

Pick up will have to be scheduled as we have to remove part of the fence to get it out of the back.

Up for discussion west Wood Acres lexi and west Wood Acres meredith.

These two half sisters where born may 7th and 8th, 2022 and raised as litter mates.

Lexi did attend the royal this past november and placed 1st in her class. She is very small, I dont have an exact weight but she is the same size as my netherland dwarfs. Lexi loves attention and will run right up to you for some snuggles. Parents: ivy and toggo

Meredith sadly was not able to go to the royal as she had ripped her ear. Her ear is not completely healed but has a good size scar. Meredith is not as cuddly as lexi but will allow a few pets between her adventures.
Parents: kat and toggo, fosterd by ivy.

I would love to see these girls go to a pet home or 4H family together or seperate.

Please read my adoption policy before considering one or both for your family.

Serious inquiries only.

I know tiny will probably DQ due to her age and her plethora of white hairs, arya I have no idea how she will do she is so small and the same goes for Lexi, Jarvis is the only one i have a little hope on once I get those little tiny white hairs off her face.

10/13/2022

Haven't updated in a while and I'm happy to say the buns are doing great! They love destroying all the toys and houses I get for them and treats dont last very long with all these piggies. Youd think they are starved the way they react when it comes to their treats or even just filling their pellet bowls.

Would anyone be interested in these dog kennels? I used them as cages for my rabbits for the past year and the rabbits have enjoyed them but I'm closing down the rabbitry and will no longer be using cages for the few rabbits I have kept.

I will get exact measurements upon request but each section is 2ft wide and 4ft long. There are 2 with 2 sections and 2 with 3 sections. 2 need a bit of wire patched up. And I would recommend changing the clasps on the doors, they are a bit annoying and frequently seize up. The floors are a rubber mat that can be removed for cleaning.

If you are interested in them please send me a message for any more information or questions.

Delivery not availible, you will need 2 to 3 very strong people and a very large trailer.

08/18/2022

Tommorow I will be going through the rabbits and several will be posted. I've made the decision to downsize and I may not be breeding again.
I know for sure I will have 2 black mini rex does that can be pet or breeding. The rest will be homed as pets.

Tiny baby update!
Tinys terrible 2 as I like to call them are doing very well and are now starting to explore outside of the nest. Her smallest is a little boy I've named bird after their grandfather theo, birds show name will be West Wood Acres Theon. The bigger of the 2 is a girl and her name is ari, her show name will be West Wood Acres Arya. They are following my game of thrones theme I started with tiny as her name on paper is actually West Wood Acres Sansa.
This will probably be my last update on the babies until the first week of August as I am headed to PEI to visit some family.

So for those of you that are not on my personal page we got a bit of a surprise last Friday.

I went away for 2 nights to spend some time at our seasonal trailer, dont worry someone was home to care for them. When I got home friday morning I noticed tiny had some furr sticking out of her hideout. Now tiny is notorious for making false nests and after her last litter I swore to never breed her again because I almost lost her to a 48hour labour and stuck kits. Anyways I moved tinys house to clean up the furr, I didnt want her to eat it and get wool block....but the furr moved. Yup tiny had babies! She had 3 altogether but 1 peanut.
Apperintly at our last nursing home visit last month while the girls where running around on the floor, someone must have also put nubby on the floor. So now I have surprise babies out of tiny and nubby. Definetly not planned and I am so glad tiny is okay with no problems, but who can be mad at those cute little babies. Also a bonus they are Theodores grand babies / great grand babies.

One of the babies is also exactly like their mama tiny. This little baby is half the size of its sibling and was smaller then the peanut. (I'll put a tiny baby picture to show you in the comments)

The babies had their vet appointment today and they all got a clean bill of health. We are sending a f***l sample just to make sure everything is out of their system but they should be good to go to their homes within the next week or so.

I do still have 2 girls and 1 boy left looking for homes.

RHD update, there has now been cases in toronto reported, 4 domestic rabbits have passed away with the disease.

To keep your buns safe please keep them indoors, dont pick any vegetation from outside for them, wash your hands before handeling your rabbits and If you bring a new rabbit into the family make sure it is not from a quarantined area and quarantine it yourself for 10 days.

I will keep you updated as best I can or you can track it on your own from the website.

WEST WOOD ACRES ADOPTION POLICY

*Just a reminder to those looking to adopt a rabbit. *

There is a short application to fill out to be approved for adoption. This is to guarantee that you are the right person and home. It reassures me that they will be safe and that you know how to care for the rabbit. ALL questions must be answered in full to be considered as a potential adopter. *4H members can get a 50% discount with proof of membership*

I don't ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit to hold a rabbit until pick up at this time. I do how ever ask that you show up on our agreed date to view and pick up the rabbit. If something comes up and that date needs to be changed message me as soon as you are aware so we can work out another date. If you don't show up and I don't hear from you within 24 hours the rabbit will be put back up for adoption. I rely on adoption fees to help cover expenses like food, bedding, treats, toys and most importantly vet bills.

First come gets first pick. You have to understand other people may be interested in the same rabbit you are and they may have messaged me first. If they fill out the application and are approved the rabbit goes to them. What I can do is put you on a waiting list, so if that person passes up on the rabbit or fails the application you can be in line to have a chance to adopt the rabbit. Or being put on the waiting list can give you the chance to have first pick at a future litter or rescues. Litters will not be availible for applications until 8 weeks of age.
To be put on the waiting list pm me and I will send you the application and add you to the list with specifications on what you are looking to adopt.

Not all rabbits I own are up for adoption so please don't go looking through and asking for just any rabbit you see. Some are my show/personal rabbits and others may be permanent rescue residents that have medical reasons as to why they are not availible.

YOU MUST BE 18+YEARS TO APPLY.
IF YOU ARE RENTING YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE PROOF THAT YOUR LANDLORD IS OKAY WITH PETS ON THEIR PROPERTY.

All adopters will receive when they pick up their rabbit...
1. Adoption manual that will include the rabbits personal information and then all things you need to know about owning a rabbit.
2. If needed I can give you a supplies list for what you will need to own and properly care for a rabbit.
3.bag of feed they are currently on and a smalle bale of hay.
4. Grooming services. If you are not able or don't feel comfterble with grooming/trimming nails we can schedual a date once a month you can bring your rabbit to be groomed.
5. Knowledge. If you ever have any questions or concerns ever about your rabbit I am always there to help or give advice. I will not turn you away. That also goes for rabbits that where not adopted from me.
6. A rabbit is always welcome to be returned no questions asked and no fee. It doesn't matter the reason, the only thing that matters is the rabbits health and safety.
