There will be a solar eclipse on Monday April 8th between approximately 2 and 4 pm.
Toronto’s City News posted an article on their website titled “How to Keep Your Pets Safe During the Solar Eclipse” written by Lucas Cassaletto.

Due to META “eclipsing” Canadian news from their platform, we can’t share the article but we borrowed the following:

“How to keep your pets safe during the solar eclipse:

-Keep pets indoors: Strange shadows and changes in lighting during the eclipse may confuse pets. Keeping them indoors can prevent them from becoming scared or disoriented.

-Provide distractions: Keep your pets occupied with toys or treats to help divert their attention from the unusual event happening outside.

-Avoid encouraging your pet to look up or point to the sky: If you’re outside with them, refrain from encouraging pets to gaze at the eclipse.

-Return home if already out with your pet: If you’re already out with your pet during the eclipse, try to return home if possible. The sudden darkness can confuse animals and may cause them to become scared or anxious.

-Be mindful of wildlife and livestock: If you’re driving during the eclipse, be aware of wildlife and livestock on the road. The sudden darkness could cause them to behave unpredictably or stray onto the road.”

We need your help! We need your financial donations! We also want to help those who may need items for their kitchen, dining room, curtains for their bedrooms or cooking utensils.

One $1 donation will deworm a kitten/puppy, your $7 donation will deworm an adult cat/dog, your $10 donation will prevent fleas and worms, your $20 donation will give a kitten or puppy their 1st vaccine.

Please! Another Heat Warning! Keep your pets in a cool location! Do not take in the car or leave the outside for any length of time. Keep indoors if possible!
Shade, breeze, water may just not be enough to keep them cool. Take your dogs for a short walk off pavement ... take water with you for both you and your dog.
Do not leave your pets in a vehicle!!! Better yet leave them at home!
Keep your cats indoors!
Monitor your pet for heat related illness (excessive panting, sweating, lethargy) and parasites (ticks, fleas, cuterebras, flies and maggots).

Please help strays and wildlife! Leave a fresh bowl of water outside! Make sure your pet does not drink out of the bowl to discourage transmission of disease.

We have 4 spaces available in our low-cost Feline Spay/Neuters on August 19th. This is meant for Low-Income families, barn cats or ferals.
