SDHumaneSociety Building Shelter for the animals in Norfolk County To Help Simcoe and District Humane Society continue to Perform Animal Welfare Services throughout No

Simcoe and District Humane Society needs the help of every member of the community to build a shelter for those less fortunate animals! SDHS has been performing Animal Welfare Services in and around Norfolk County before they were Incorporated in 1953 and still work daily with the animals. Before 2004, the Society did not have a place to call their own, fostering animals in volunteers' homes and o

ut-buildings. In 2004 the Society purchased the property at 24 Grigg Drive and in 2007 opened a temporary shelter on the property.
2015 is the year to put up the building! Let's help those less fortunate animals in a building Norfolk County can be proud of! We hope to keep everyone updated on special "building fund" fundraisers and get others involved in a positive way for the animals. Volunteers do not have time to monitor the page but will gladly answer emails sent directly to [email protected] not through facebook. We thank everyone for their support and look forward to a building for the animals in the near future.

There will be a solar eclipse on Monday April 8th between approximately 2 and 4 pm.
Toronto’s City News posted an article on their website titled “How to Keep Your Pets Safe During the Solar Eclipse” written by Lucas Cassaletto.

Due to META “eclipsing” Canadian news from their platform, we can’t share the article but we borrowed the following:

“How to keep your pets safe during the solar eclipse:

-Keep pets indoors: Strange shadows and changes in lighting during the eclipse may confuse pets. Keeping them indoors can prevent them from becoming scared or disoriented.

-Provide distractions: Keep your pets occupied with toys or treats to help divert their attention from the unusual event happening outside.

-Avoid encouraging your pet to look up or point to the sky: If you’re outside with them, refrain from encouraging pets to gaze at the eclipse.

-Return home if already out with your pet: If you’re already out with your pet during the eclipse, try to return home if possible. The sudden darkness can confuse animals and may cause them to become scared or anxious.

-Be mindful of wildlife and livestock: If you’re driving during the eclipse, be aware of wildlife and livestock on the road. The sudden darkness could cause them to behave unpredictably or stray onto the road.”
