Well we have officially started our hatching of freedom fighters and silkies along with a couple other breeds 🙂 so cute! Expecting 29! So far so good with only one so far who didn’t have a successful journey. 😞

We believe this is one pure bred augsburger from Germany, Bavaria. We have a female but we can’t sell the pair as a mating pair as they are siblings sadly. Pm for details 🙂

Well it’s been a fun winter so far at strange oasis 🙂 we’ve had our challenges and we’ve conquered them all and we’re still here 🙂 first year was a lot of fun. We still have silkie babies and they should be laying soon enough 🙂 such a great selection of Color’s. Even one that looks so yellow she could blend in with a brick of gold haha so cute!

Good morning folks 🙂 hope everyone’s having a great morning! Little cool over here but everyone’s doing great! 🙂 we’d like to announce that we successfully hatched out a batch of silkies! 😀 Half we’re hatched from our wonderful white silkie as well as some in the incubator as well. We have just over 20! We have multiple Color’s, brown, grey, black as well as white. There are a lot more dark Color’s than light Color’s by just over half. So limited on light ones but message us with any questions as well as cost 🙂

We have some beautiful Augsburg chicks available! Eleven so far, and counting.

These are considered an endangered breed of chicken that hails from Bavaria. We acquired these birds from a man who specializes in rare chicken breeds, but due to his age and decline in health he sold them to us to continue the line. We are one of 3 people in Canada who has this breed!

What we know so far about this breed is that they are a dual purpose bird that were bred to have a darker meat. They are really good layers they kept laying through the heat wave! They are also very cold hardy.

They are a beautiful bird with a quiet temperament and good foraging abilities.

We are asking $10 per chick. They hatched last weekend and this weekend as well.

We will also hopefully have some Silkies babies available in the next week or so too!

A couple of our girls are getting ready to bring new life to strange oasis 🙂 the white one just laid her first egg today 🙂 as well as we did a candling of an egg. From our clutch we have in the incubator right now and so far we have success with fertile eggs 😀 our Roos are doing their job and our hens are happy so let’s see what we’ve got coming 🙂

We are starting to narrow down which breeds to keep and which ones to offer for sale. Which has been tough, as we love all of our chickens!

As for right now we are happy to offer a beautiful breeding trio of Blue Andalusians. They are a happy, curious and active breed. They have been handled by us and kids and are used to dogs and cats.

$30 for each hen and the the rooster is free.

Hatched out April 14th 2022.

We are so excited for the arrival of some new additions to our little farm! Four new Silkie hens! We went to Creston to pick them up today :)
Bearded mauve splash, partridge, fawn and white. They are each gorgeous and unique. We will have hatchlings available for spring!

Such a great morning here at Strange Oasis so far this morning! Yesterday evening during our evening check we had found a visitor in the Silkie pen 😉 Ms. Lucy was introducing herself making herself known letting the silkies know all the mice are hers as well as the tiny snake XD
