After discussing it with the CDC this morning, here are the current requirements for bringing a dog into the U.S. from Canada starting August 1st/2024.

1. Owners need to fill out a CDC Dog Import form
https://cdc-786687.workflowcloud.com/forms/090dc543-7b2f-4538-b2c7-2919d12ecc73
2. Dogs must have a microchip that can be detected with a universal scanner to identify them.
3. Canada is considered a low risk country for Rabies so the CDC recommends all dogs be vaccinated against dog Rabies.
**Rabies certificates will be printed off by us and will include the required microchip number**
Please note, the Rabies vaccine has to be current and had to have been administered by us in order for us to print one off prior to travel.
4. Dogs must appear healthy upon arrival.
5. Dogs must be at least 6 months old at time of entry or return to the U.S.

**Lets talk about the importance of registering your pets microchips**

Recent events have revealed that over 20% of animals that the BC Pet Registry has scanned possess microchips that are implanted but not linked to any registry. This is concerning because without proper information, these animals, if lost, are likely to end up in stressful shelter environments, ultimately risking permanent separation from their families, which is heart breaking.

The BC SPCA had over 4200 cats and 2250 dogs come into their facilities in 2023, over 83% of cats and 39% of dogs were not able to go home, often due to lack of permanent identification.

The mission of the BC Pet Registry is to help reunite lost animals with their guardians.

If your pet is microchipped and you haven't already, click on the link below to create an account and register them.
If you already have an account, always make sure your contact information is up to date :).

Don't hesitate to message us if you have any questions.

Hello!
We would like to apologize for the on going issue (for months now) with our phones.
We understand how frustrating it is to not be able to reach us or leave voicemails.

We have a VERY small window to answer incoming calls and hope to have that problem dealt with ASAP.

As for the voicemails, we were told this morning that our voicemail issue should be resolved now and messages shouldn’t be going to our old system.
Please let us know if you are still having an issue leaving a voicemail.

Enjoy the sunny week ahead!

A message to our horse clients,

We understand the recent and growing concerns around Strangles (Streptococcus equi), and how the sources of information online can be overwhelming.
We would like to share a link below of a reliable source to help you better understand Strangles:

https://www.merckvetmanual.com/respiratory-system/respiratory-diseases-of-horses/strangles-in-horses

As always, your horse may be at risk for strangles if he/she travels to events or shows or is exposed to horses that travel, such as within a boarding barn.

If you choose to protect your horse by vaccinating against Strangles we would be happy to order in PINNACLE I.N. for you, which is a two-dose modified-live vaccine developed to help prevent strangles caused by Streptococcus equi.
PINNACLE I.N. utilizes a specially designed cannula that helps deliver the vaccine to the pharyngeal (throat) area. Intranasal administration helps provide a more natural immune response, stimulating innate and mucosal immunity at the site of natural infection. Because it is given intranasally, PINNACLE I.N. avoids local injection-site reactions that can occur with parenteral S. equi vaccines.
Administer a second dose two to three weeks later. Annual revaccination is recommended based on risk of exposure.
PINNACLE I.N. has not been tested in pregnant animals

If you have any other questions or concerns please don't hesitate to call or email the clinic!
