While he might have been one of the scariest critters to run into while he was alive, we do have to admit, his little nose makes us all think that we could just walk right up and give him scratches. We are truly thankful to have been able to mount this special guy, and thank his owner for his patience!

Good Morning.

There was a piece in the news yesterday regarding a taxidermist in the Shuswap who had been charged with illegal disposal of wildlife parts.

I do not know which taxidermist it was but I hope that it has become clear to them and to the hunting community how important it is treat wildlife with respect, both before and after harvest. I understand it was an "accidental dumping".

I was aware of the incident and am relieved to hear that it was not related to poaching.

At Dawn 'til Dusk, we are fortunate to be located on a large piece of land that allows us to both burry and compost any unused parts in the process of preparing your animal for taxidermy. We have freezers dedicated to the storage of unused parts and when they are full, they are emptied. Nothing that is brought to us, ever leaves the property until you come to pick up your finished mount.

With summer drawing to a close here at Dawn til Dusk, I think it's time to update everyone on some new and exciting changes that have happened this year! I'm excited to announce that I have taken on a new apprentice and starting this fall we will be busier than ever in the shop getting your next mount to you.

We haven't been able to focus on taxidermy as much as we would have hoped this summer, as we have been trying to build a cabin for said apprentice. Still, we have got to spend some time in the shop. Here are some of our favorite mounts from the summer.

At Dawn 'til Dusk taxidermy, all of our rugs are lined with licensed Realtree twill. We love it! Rugs can be made with the jaws open or closed. You have a choice of two felt colors to trim the outside. As well, the rug is fully padded and lined with a color-co-coordinated lining and the whole rug is fully sewn, not glued.
