Our paddock pals is a very popular program. Paddock pals is our version of parents and tots. A wonderful bonding opportunity for parents and tots interacting with our ponies. This is a wonderful introduction to ponies before deciding to invest in riding lessons. (Our riding programs start at 3 yrs old) parents and tots spend time learning to groom, and handle our ponies gradually moving onto learning to lead their pony through a fun yet simple obstacle course and fun games !

P*e wees :2 time slots on Saturdays.

March 1,8,15,22

P*e Wees has been a fundamental and extremely popular program we've been offering for over 12 yrs!
P*e wees is the next step up from Paddock Pals. P*e Wees is an introductory riding program for kids ages 3-5 yrs old.
Children are assigned a pony and handler who assist them for each class (parents are required to assist if needed) . Children will remain ona lead line in this program due to age and our safety protocols.
P*e Wees learn grooming and basic western riding skills through hands on learning and fun mounted games.
There are two classes we offer on Saturdays 11am-12pm and an evening class 6pm-7pm each class has limited spaces and on a first come first serve basis.

Buckaroos: two time slots :
**ALL BUCKAROO TIME SLOTS ARE FULL**(get yourself signed up for our next classes to avoid disappointment)

Buckaroos is the next level into our graduated riding program. (Paddock pals, p*e wees, and Buckaroos)
Buckaroos learn the fundamentals of western riding and those who have already completed our other programs continue to build on their current riding skills. Buckaroos start out on a lead line and the goal is to have them riding independently by the last class. Buckaroos complete obstacle courses and play mounted games to strengthen their riding abilities and improve motor, auditory and cognitive skills. Buckaroos builds confidence and independence.

UPDATES:

So we have some great updates from our last vet visit the end of November.

Q had a full work up and a once over, she is approx. 25 yrs old ish as far as vet can tell, she's in great health and has gone from 938lbs when she arrived to a whopping 1000lbs. In less then 3 weeks.
Vet likes her at this weight she looks very fit.
She is very high energy and excitable.

She has been approved for riding by experienced people for now and no riders over 165lbs.

She will remain on her special diet which we are very thankful for her sponsor family who helps take care of all her needs.

The ponies are all doing very well.. those who needed to loose weight since the last visit have been and we will continue with the exercise/workout routines for them.

Princess arrived with severe laminitis and has some struggles but she is on the mend vet feels she's making good improvement and by spring staying on the routine we have set in place, she should make a full recovery.

Waffles has made an amazing recovery with his coffin bone rotation in all four feet and laminitis, all tests, vet assessments say he's made a full recovery! Thanks to hard work and dedication of such an amazing team of volunteers.

Lulu is doing amazing under saddle and progressing well.

Rest of the herd is very healthy and happy.

No concerns other then those mentioned here so we're doing so well andany of our rescues have come so far !

We feel so thankful and blessed.

Mini Wheat is such a character.. pics thanks one of our clients, thanks for sharing.

**attention**

No lessons today due to weather and Rd conditions, our landlord is coming sometime today to hopefully clear the driveway and parking lot as it's very deep and a number of vehicles have been stuck the past few days. 💕

We were blessed one of our volunteers was able to make it out last night to at least feed and water! The rest of the team was stranded.

This morning's team made it but it's still pretty bad conditions out there.

Everyone stay safe, stay warm !!

Winters are tough not only on the rescues but on our phenomenal team, anything to make the work load lighter for these wonderful volunteers is always my goal...

We spent the last 2.5yrs without trough heaters and many other struggles because of the locations we were in.

I was determined never to have to deal with those struggles again. Thankfully this location has brand new electrical work and tons of wattage and plugs available so we can once again use through heaters/deicers, plenty of shelters and space.

No more having to bring our herd in and out for weather constantly due to the fact we were renting stalls elsewhere so not our property.

Joining and running 4/5 hoses just to get water to the herd ..

Then it was battling knee deep mud that caused so much distress and medical issues for our herd, so many unnecessary struggles for our amazing team, as well as freezing water troughs as the electric was not viable to use trough heaters/deicers.

Well, No more spending hrs trying to bust up all the ice and remove it and freezing our butts off doing it no more having to drag heavy hoses about 300/400ft just to get water to the horses, no more bringing the horses in and out multiple times a day due to lack of shelters to protect them from heat, weather or locking them in stalls for days due to flooding, no more dealing with knee deep mud...

We have an amazing property and are finally home, our own space not shared, or worry of ppl coming and going on the property as they please due to shared driveway or space, we have large shelters for our herd in every pen that allows us to keep them safe, warm and outdoors yr round and saves on a lot of stall cleaning and shavings, our herd is much happier as well. We have our own driveway, personal space, and an amazing indoor arena.

This spring we expand into an additional acerage to build an outdoor riding area and addition pens and parking spaces.

We are so excited and blessed.

I'm extremely happy that our facility allows for a much lighter work load for our amazing team of volunteers.

This team works tirelessly with so many tasks, assisting with rehabilitation and medical needs of our herd the extra time allows us to focus more the rehabilitation and needs of our rescues.

As many of you know I post almost yearly the horse industry slaughter/human consumption numbers.

These are provided by the the government and available on the horse coalition defense page as well.

Sadly horse slaughter has greatly increased over the last year. Ontario and Alberta are still one of the top on this list for Canada and Canada being the biggest slaughter and export in North America.

Here are the latest stats from 2024.

This breaks my heart!!

This is why we do what we do to ensure fewer numbers meet this horrible fate! There is no discrimination when it comes to slaughter the young (babies) and old alike are all just meat by the lbs , profit.. nothing more.

For BTB one life rescued is another life saved, we do it one horse/pony at a time but not without the much needed help of our followers, supporters, friends and family.
