Our paddock pals is a very popular program. Paddock pals is our version of parents and tots. A wonderful bonding opportunity for parents and tots to interact with our ponies. This is a great introduction to ponies before deciding to invest in riding lessons. (Our riding programs start at 3 yrs old) parents and tots spend time learning to groom, and handling our ponies gradually moving onto learning to lead their pony through a fun yet simple obstacle course and fun games with parental assistance of course.

So what have we been up to while we've been on break ???

Training !

Training and working with some of our rescues for handling and /or preparing them to enter into our riding program.

More in-depth training for our volunteers as well as training a number of new volunteers.

We are so proud of Bullet and Princess they are under saddle and both doing amazing we're assuming they have had some riding training previous not much but enough to work with and build on. They are getting ready to enter into our spring riding programs.

Lulu has been given some time off while we focus on other herd members so it was three weeks since she was ridden but she was a real champ ! We're so proud of her. We are hoping by late spring she will be able to be more confident and comfortable with riding.

Noel our newest addition is finally off quaratine and intergrated well with her new small herd , waffles and Jack Jack. We created a smaller space for them for turn out as it will make it much easier to teach Jack Jack and Noel to be caught as well as much easier for the team.
Waffles is in their herd as there other herds have intergrated and waffles seems to be the one who gets picked on and we wanted to avoid that.

Princess, bullet, and Lulu intergrated beautifully with Q's herd ZERO issues.

Huge shout out to Holland our little rider who is so brave and bold she is always willing to help out with training the minis, thanks to her mom Jodi Marissen for always being eager and willing to help and allowing Holland to help us.

We had some of our previous rescues return to the farm this past week. They are being boarded at our facility. We welcome back Paxton and Lucy.

The team at BTB have been busy over the holidays with upgrading their skills and abilities, as well as working more in depth with some of our herd.

Q has been making steady improvement with her handling and lunging, bullet has been fitted for a saddle and ready to enter our P*e Wees program, mini wheat was a stinker as always but has been a great helper for training some of our volunteers on handling, lunging and learning to lead our littles programs.

The team and herd will be steadily working away building their skills, training, handling and further education till our programs reopen end of February.

We are excited for everyone's return to show you the results of the teams hard work!

Noel our new arrival has been with us now a week and doing well, she enjoys rolling in the snow.

Morning all our friends, supporters and followers!

Happy Christmas Eve!

Our new little pony outside for the first time since her arrival.

We always try and give new arrivals who are extremely reactive and fearful a good 24 hrs inside to calm/ settle down and acclimate to the new sounds, smells and barn.

She went out this morning but not without a fight being caught in luding trying to lunge and bite at the handle , this is all fear response from abuse, we've seen it many times... (Mini, Murphy as examples)

My team is amazing and well trained have had lots of experience especially this past yr with new arrivals on many levels.

I'm sure given a few mths my team will have her docile and eatting outta their hands !

Love her coloring !, don't you ??

Now if only we could get the huge Mat's of fur off her ugh* she wouldn't look so dirty and scruffy!

Please scroll down the page for the post regarding new name voting ... Voting ends Christmas morning !

NEW ARRIVAL:

This is Emily (name change in the works)

She is 8yrs old, 8hh.

She found her self at auction and the family that bought her was told she was a kids riding pony, handled well and ridden by a 4 yr old.

Well...

She's the exact opposite! She has very little handling.

Absolutely terrified of human touch to the point she will Bite, paw or rear.

Has no idea what treats are and won't come near a hand period.

Her feet were terrible, the purchaser had them done as soon as possible.

Her fur is completely matted especially around her face, her coat is full of dirt and matted fur.

She is unsure about being lead and can be flighty.

She was to unhandled and feral for the purchaser who obviously was lied to by the seller at the auction.

So, she has found her way to us and will need extensive rehabilitation and care. My amazing team is up for the challenge and are an amazing group of dedicated hardworking , rescue volunteers so I'm sure they are up for the challenge look at the amazing job they ahve done with all our recent rescues this past yr !

When visiting the farm please remember she is on quaratine for 14 days and that she is NOT friendly and may bite. Please do not pet or allow your children to touch her. Please for her safety and yours keep your distance and respect our quaratine protocols.
