A cat eating pumpkin?! Who knew?? Turns out she’s the smart one …. Read on to find out why she knows what’s best … I’ve been seeing pumpkin labelled lately as a “super” food and here’s why: It’s an anti-inflammatory food - Source of antioxidants - Great for skin and hair/coat - Very healthy for and easy on the gut - Adds great fibre to the diet - Contains antioxidants - Also contains phosphorus, calcium, and vitamins A, C, and K - Repels parasites. I started regularly adding canned pumpkin purée to the dog’s food quite a while ago. It’s excellent for intestinal health (so great for any tummy troubles and/or runny poops), the fibre also helps any anal gland issues. It’s also fantastic for skin and coat health - which has been helping my little allergic dog quite a bit with his itchy skin. Turns out it’s good for cats too for all the same reasons. I never thought in a million years my cat would eat pumpkin - but here she is very much enjoying it. I should not be surprised. This cat eats a lot of different things from peanut butter to all sorts of veggies and greens. Super healthy!!Of course it’s very good for us peoples too for all the same reasons. A pumpkin highlight is that it’s very anti inflammatory. Most of us deal with inflammation. Even if you don’t think you have inflammation you probably do due to our environment and diet. Belly fat, for example, is a good indicator of inflammation. Arthritis is also inflammation. Here’s a weird bonus - parasites, such as intestinal (people and pets) and skin mites, do not like pumpkin or pumpkin seeds. All of this is good news for me as I’ve been obsessed with home made PSL which has both the purée and pumpkin seeds - and no processed sugars. Delicious!!And btw - we’re talking plain, pumpkin purée where the only ingredient is pumpkin. Or fresh pumpkin. But don’t just take my word for it - google it yourself and see!
I love ALL the animals. I hate the pathetic cups they keep Betta’s in at the pet store. They are NOT suited to cups, vases, bowls, small plastic tanks, and need - at the very least - 5 gallons. They naturally live in rice paddies with lots of territory. They are very intelligent and interactive. There are even Betta Olympics because people train them!! They need lots of stuff in their habitat to enrich them. I hand feed this guy and he will come to a cupped hand for interaction. #betta #bettafish #bettafishkeeping
I ordered handmade kitty catnip toys and purr pads from @purrsanpaws.
They were supposed to be Christmas presents for the cats to open but Maddie Mittens knew the catnip was in the house and was going pretty silly trying to find where the scent was coming from.
I couldn’t even hide these and couldn’t resist giving them to the cats right away and needless to say - The toys and pads are a huge hit!!
If you have cats (or know someone who does) these will be great for Christmas gifts!!
