🐾Breed of the Month ft. Daisy🐾
German Shepherds are a highly intelligent and versatile dog breed, originally developed in Germany in the late 19th century by Captain Max von Stephanitz to be the ideal working dog.
Known for their loyalty, strength, and trainability, they excel in various roles, including herding, search and rescue, police work, and as service dogs. Their protective nature and strong bond with their families make them exceptional companions, but they require regular exercise and mental stimulation to thrive.
They have a distinctive double coat, often in black and tan, though other colors like sable and all-black are also common. German Shepherds have moderate grooming needs due to their double coat, which consists of a dense undercoat and a weather-resistant outer coat. They shed year-round, with heavier shedding occurring twice a year during seasonal coat changes, often referred to as “blowing their coat.” Regular brushing helps remove loose hair and prevents matting.
