🐾Breed of the Month! Ft Lola🐾

Labrador Retrievers are one of the most popular dog breeds in the world, known for their friendly nature, intelligence, and loyalty. Originally bred as fishing and hunting dogs in Newfoundland, they are natural swimmers with a love for water.

Labs are highly trainable, making them excellent service dogs, therapy animals, and family companions. Their gentle temperament and playful energy make them great with children and other pets, while their eagerness to please ensures they thrive in active, loving homes.

Labrador Retrievers have a short, dense double coat that sheds year-round, with heavier shedding in the spring and fall. Regular brushing—at least once or twice a week—helps manage shedding and keeps their coat healthy by distributing natural oils. Their water-resistant coat can trap dirt and odors, so monthly baths or as needed will keep them fresh and clean.

🐾Breed of the Month: ft. Molly🐾

As some of you may know, our house flooded a few weeks ago, and we’ve temporarily relocated to Louisdale. This has made getting to the shop more challenging, especially in this weather. I’ll be closed this morning, but I’m hoping road conditions improve later today. I’ll keep you updated!

🐾Breed of the Month: ft. Walter & Chester🐾

The Shetland Sheepdog, or Sheltie, is a small yet highly intelligent herding breed known for its agility, loyalty, and affectionate nature. Resembling a miniature Rough Collie, Shelties have a thick double coat, expressive eyes, and a graceful build.

Originally bred in the Shetland Islands of Scotland to herd sheep, they are energetic, eager to please, and highly trainable. Their gentle temperament makes them excellent family pets, though they can be reserved around strangers.

Shetland Sheepdogs have a thick double coat that requires regular grooming to keep it healthy and free of mats. Brushing at least once a week is essential, with more frequent brushing during seasonal shedding periods. A slicker brush and undercoat rake can help remove loose fur and prevent tangles, especially around the ears, chest, and hindquarters. While their coat naturally repels dirt, neglecting grooming can lead to matting and excessive shedding, making regular maintenance crucial for their comfort and appearance
