🔍 How the 2024 Newfoundland and Labrador Budget Impacts Manufacturers & Exporters 🔍

Today's 2024 budget unveiled by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador presents a promising landscape for the manufacturing and export sectors. Here’s what businesses need to know:

1. Stability & Growth: With no new taxes or fee increases, manufacturers can enjoy a stable financial environment conducive to growth and long-term planning.

2. Continued Investment in Manufacturing: The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador continues to invest in the manufacturing sector with the 10 percent Manufacturing and Processing Investment Tax Credit, which CME NL successfully advocated for in 2022.

3. Supporting Small Business: A small business tax rate reduction is set to bolster profitability and investment capacity for small manufacturing firms, driving innovation and expansion.

4. Efficiency & Innovation: The government's commitment to cutting red tape and speeding up processes promises a more dynamic business environment, allowing manufacturers to innovate and respond to market demands more effectively.

5. Investment Opportunities: Record investments in infrastructure signal broader economic growth, creating new opportunities for manufacturers in related sectors.

6. Bright Economic Outlook: The budget focuses on sectors like green energy, low-carbon oil, and overall economic growth. It outlines significant opportunities for manufacturers to diversify and expand their market reach.

🌐 The 2024 budget is a testament to the government's support for the manufacturing sector, fostering an environment ripe for innovation, growth, and prosperity. Let’s leverage these opportunities to shape a thriving future for our industry.

👏 CME NL Applauds New Government Procurement Strategies Aimed at Local Growth and Sustainability👏

The Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters Newfoundland and Labrador Division (CME NL) applauds the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador on behalf of our members and our sector for introducing the "Newfoundland and Labrador First Procurement Strategy" and the "Sustainable Procurement Strategy."

These initiatives demonstrate a deep-seated commitment to bolstering our local economy by championing local suppliers and integrating sustainable practices into the heart of provincial procurement processes.

At CME NL, we recognize these strategies as crucial cornerstones for cultivating a competitive edge and promoting environmental stewardship within our manufacturing sector. We are enthusiastic about the prospects these strategies introduce, empowering businesses of all sizes to engage more robustly in government procurement and to champion sustainability across our province.

By giving precedence to local suppliers and weaving environmental, social, and economic considerations into procurement decisions, we do more than fuel our economy—we lay the groundwork for a resilient and sustainable future for our communities.

CME NL remains steadfast in our advocacy for our members and commitment to our longstanding 'Manufactured Right Here' program. Together, we're dedicated to breathing life into these strategies, reinforcing the fabric of our local industry and the well-being of Newfoundland and Labrador.
