Important Update for Our Pet Community!

In response to VSC’s announcement, we are introducing a shared emergency on-call group for after hours emergencies from 7pm -8am daily, starting July 2nd at 7pm. This group is a collaboration among Beachy Cove Animal Hospital, Avalon Animal Hospital, Sunrise Animal Hospital, Torbay Road Animal Hospital, Terra Nova Veterinary Clinic, Baccalieu Trail Animal Hospital, Topsail Road Veterinary Clinic, Paradise Animal Hospital, Kenmount Road Animal Hospital, CBS Animal Hospital, Memorial Animal Hospital, and St. John’s Veterinary Hospital.

VSC will continue to handle emergencies during the day from 8am - 7pm.

After hours, please call your clinic and you will be forwarded to our Emergency line. You will then be directed to the clinic that is on-call. If you don’t have a specific clinic, you can still call our line and say so; you will be directed to the hospital on-call.

We ask for your patience and kindness towards our staff who are dedicated to providing the best care for your pets in times of need.

We are sorry to inform you that our satellite clinic Woodpath Cat & Dog Hospital will be permanently closing on December 22,2023 due to the sale of the building and it is not feasible for us to relocate.

We have enjoyed serving you and your pets for the past 31 years in the CBS area and we look forward to continuing our relationship with you from our main location, St. John’s Veterinary Hospital on Freshwater Road.

All medical records will be transferred into our St. John’s location, please call us at 709 722-7766 if you have any questions.

"Paws Up" What a Gorgeous Intelligent Sweetheart Miss Kelee is! <3

An adorable cute evening here at SJVH! As Index and Scrilla wait patiently to see Dr. Simms. ❤

On this dreary Monday, couldn't we all use a little more cuteness? This is how Leonard amused himself while waiting for his person to finish work and take him home :D

Cat games!

Dr Simms had an adorable litter of kittens come in to see her, and the owner brought along a game to keep them distracted during the exam. It worked very well! Have you tried a phone app for your pets?

Never a dull moment at SJVH! A kind citizen saw this duck hit by a car on Waterford Bridge Road and scooped her up to bring to us. We checked her over for injuries, filled up our tub for her to swim in, and let her walk about so we were sure she was in good shape. Julia took her back to Bowring park and released her in the duck pond, and reports she was fitting right back in no worse for wear!

What goes on behind the scenes at St John's Veterinary Hospital? There's an upstairs to the clinic, where we have offices for our hospital manager, administrative assistant, and doctors. There's also a staff lounge. Presiding over all this is Simon, our clinic cat. He likes to make sure papers don't fly off desks (by sitting on them), and seats don't get cold (by sitting on them), and is always ready to distract someone from their work (by sitting on it.) Some days you just need a break from it all... good thing we have Simon for a bit of distraction!
