Cedar Row Farm Sanctuary took in their first rescued farm animals in 1999. We are a small, family run sanctuary and rescue. Cedar Row has no paid employees and is run by dedicated volunteers. We are not open to the public but we offer regular work visits and 2 annual open houses a year.

Tim was born prematurely on a dairy farm 10 years ago and faced being killed due to the extra work he required. A young man, asked by a friend from the farm, decided to take Tim in and cared for him from just a day old. After three years, the young man’s parents sold their hobby farm, so he had to find Tim a new home. Tim arrived at Cedar Row seven years ago and has been thriving there ever since.

With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of our dear friend Bardot. Bardot arrived at Cedar Row 10 years ago on a bitterly cold night after being found running for her life on a rural road.

Recently, Bardot stopped eating, prompting us to contact our vet, who diagnosed and treated her for a kidney infection. Unfortunately, she showed no signs of the infection until she stopped eating. The vet returned the following day to administer fluids as Bardot had also stopped drinking. We believe the intense heat exacerbated her condition.

Bardot will be greatly missed. 😞

Jimmy celebrated his 12th birthday this spring, exceeding his expected lifespan by 11.5 years, considering pigs are slaughtered at six months old. Despite battling various health issues over the years, we’ve managed to support him through them. However, his mobility is now a challenge due to arthritis in his spine, requiring daily pain medication.

Pig days of summer! We have a heatwave this week so Jimmy is taking full advantage of a cooling mud bath.

Contrary to misconceptions, cows exhibit strong maternal instincts. Meet Coretta, tenderly caring for Penny, a rescued cow neglected for 15 years. Coretta, once exploited by the dairy industry for 8 years, endured regular separation from her calves. Studies have shown separation is heartbreaking for both mother and offspring. Next week, Luna has an appointment at the vet clinic for X-rays to determine why she's having trouble holding her head up. Jimmy is currently unable to get up, and it's unclear whether it's due to an injury or the arthritis in his spine. Welcoming these special souls into our care, their journey to a brighter future begins. Bassem, the kitten was found in the country with a severe tail injury, and Arnold was bought as a support animal for a terminal person, who has since passed away.
