Cedar Row Farm Sanctuary took in their first rescued farm animals in 1999. We are a small, family run sanctuary and rescue. Cedar Row has no paid employees and is run by dedicated volunteers. We are not open to the public but we offer regular work visits and 2 annual open houses a year.

Join us Saturday, November 8th from 11am to 2pm for a work visit at Cedar Row!

If you’re 16 or older and want to help animals directly, this is the perfect opportunity! Be ready to roll up your sleeves, meet like-minded people, and make a real difference in animals’ lives (like our cute little Luna, pictured here!)

We’ll be preparing for the winter, so your help will be extra meaningful. The day will wrap up with a vegan potluck, our last one until spring, which is always a fun highlight!

If you have any extra non-carved pumpkins, we’d be happy to accept them! A wheelbarrow will be set up at the end of the driveway starting Saturday (Nov 1) for drop-offs! Our residents love pumpkins, as you can see from Truffles’ excitement! 🐽🥳

Penny shows Coretta affection in one of the sweetest ways cows connect: a gentle lick 🐮💛

Cows are far more intelligent than most people realize, with rich social and emotional lives. This behavior is called allogrooming, and it involves licking each other’s head and neck, areas that are hard for them to reach themselves. It serves not only to show affection, but also to strengthen social bonds and promote harmony within the herd. Through this social grooming, cows ease tension and deepen friendships.

Here, Penny gently licks Coretta, a simple act that means so much more, a true expression of love, trust, and connection between two friends who are free to live as they choose, experiencing the emotional lives they were always meant to have. 🐮💛
