Exciting news!

We are excited to announce the launch of BayVETS Urgent Care, an after-hours veterinary urgent care clinic coming to Collingwood soon! We are a group of local family veterinarians coming together to offer timely and compassionate out-of-hours outpatient care. Our goal is to bridge the gap between, and to partner with family veterinarians and busy emergency hospitals, allowing them to focus on what they do best.

At BayVETS, we will assess and provide timely care for common pet ailments such as stomach upset, lacerations, urinary tract infections, coughing, fever, porcupine encounters, and much more. Think of us as your pet’s after-hours walk-in clinic!

We are currently seeking professional team members to help us bring our vision to life. Flexible employment options are available for veterinarians, RVTs, VTs, VAs, and experienced veterinary receptionists. Follow the link to learn more about employment opportunities with us. Remember that ticks are still very active this time of year!! Ticks can be active any time temperatures are above zero degrees Celsius.Black legged deer ticks like this little lady (found on a dog in clinic this week!) have peaks of activity in spring and fall. This is the species that can carry Lyme disease. Make sure your pet is on flea and tick prevention - call us if you need to pick up more!

Kiwi also wants to help us introduce Andrea, our new veterinary technician! Andrea has been with us for a few months now, and she is a great addition to the team. Originally from Colombia 🇨🇴, she has been in Canada for 6 years and just got her Canadian citizenship this year! Andrea likes pets of all shapes and sizes, and at home she has 1 dog (Rico) 🐶, 3 cats (Copito, Oreo, and new rescued kitten Ophelia) 🐱, and 4 rats 🐀. Say hi to Andrea next time you are in the clinic!

Our friends at eTick put together this great video on what you need to know about ticks in Canada, and what to do if you find one. Did you know you can submit pictures of ticks you find to https://www.etick.ca/ or the mobile app and receive FREE identification of the species? This helps us know what diseases your pet (or you!) might have been exposed to. The data also helps track tick species and activity across Canada, giving us a better understanding of these creepy crawlies. #tickseason #tickeducation #canadianticks
