Why wait-lists?

We have had the question asked lately- “why do you do wait-lists?” Heres some of the reasons as to why we love them and why we believe they are a good thing.

1. Prevents instant gratification
Puppies should never be an impulse purchase! There are too many puppy buyers who want a puppy instantly. Buyers should research breeds and their temperaments to see what fits their families lifestyle and needs. Families should prepare for the investment of a well bred pup, and should seek to save for that instead of searching for the cheapest puppy possible. More times than not you get what you pay for!

2. Match made in heaven!
Families that embrace the wait-list patiently wait for the right puppy to join their family- they can carefully determine what temperament and personality best suits their family and wait for the pup of their dreams to be born.

3. Prevents over breeding
We like to breed according to the amount of dogs we have bookings for– in this scenario there wont be pups created outside of demand. We believe it's ideal that pups have families from the day they are born. Many breeders breed their females hoping they can line up potential buyers at a later date- meanwhile it often happens these pups get older and don't have a family.

4. We work with you
Families on our wait-list can have a say on how their pup is raised. Our families have shared with us their values and we work to raise pups to support the values of our families.

5. Watch your puppy grow
We have seen over and over the excitement from our families when pups arrive, it’s so neat watching them grow and it’s an extra special thing we enjoy sharing with our families.

6. Saves time
Our wait-list requires a fee, this fee demonstrates our families commitment to receiving a pup from us- this saves us time knowing our families will be there ready and willing to wait the time it takes.
Free wait-lists just result in us calling people that have usually found a pup somewhere else by the time they are called. Ending up in us having to take additional time to find homes to place pups at the last minute. The priority wait-list prevents all these challenges.

So we added cats this summer to manage the rodent population on our property, they have quickly made themselves at home acting like they run this joint! 😆
Thought it was time to formally introduce them, we call them Misty, Ivy & Pepper.

Today Scout made a wish come true! We had the privilege and joy to work with to help make a wish come true for a little boy named Marcus. It was such a beautiful experience to share gotcha day with his wonderful new family and we are so excited for Scout's future!

NOTE to potential pup parents, we made the difficult decision to no longer be facilitate in-person visits at our kennel.
Here are a couple of the reasons:

1. Biosecurity- Disease can be carried in on shoes and on clothing to vulnerable pups. We recently had a communicable illness almost claim the lives of one of our litters, we believe it was contracted by allowing people into our home. We work very hard to control our pups environment to give them the best protection possible against disease & parasites.

2. Monetary Security- we live here and there is a vulnerability to our security and the security of our dogs by trusting the public in our home. While we've never had anyone break in and steal one of our dogs, we do want to keep it this way.
We do know of breeders not far from us who have allowed families to view puppies only to have them break in later and steal dogs. While we know the majority are good honest people, it's just not a gamble we feel comfortable taking.

With all this said we DO want to be transparent about how our pups are raised and show families our kennel facility, we believe this is best achieved through video chats. We are more than happy to facilitate video chats with potential families wanting to see our setup and dogs before signing on, we understand the need to make sure we are real and legit and not scammers.
Once you've signed on with us and selected your puppy, we are happy to facilitate chats (at your request) to see your pups at any point in the process.

While we know this isn't ideal, we believe it's the best solution for us and our families. We understand that for some people this may be a deal breaker and that's totally fine, we know our kennel isn't for everyone. But to the families that are willing to take us on despite this, THANK-YOU!!!
We are just blessed by the families that have taken on our pups, your support means the world to us and we couldn't do what we do without it.

8 weeks old for Scarlets crew! They are such a mix of characters for this bunch.
Honey (Clementine) is brave and boisterous. Quirky and expressive... A little firecracker!
Ti (Clover) is social, affectionate and silly, he's not one to start things but is sure happy to join in. An observer and seeks to please.
Scout (Cedar) is a leader and a charmer. Don't let his serious look fool you, he's both sweet and mischievous all in one little package.
Cash (cricket) is what I'd call shy and analytical guy... He observes for a while before joining in. He is patient and super calm and obedient, a bit anxious but warms up quickly to anything after a little reassurance.
Can't believe it's only a couple more weeks before the pups join their families! Time has just flown by!

Scarlets litter is doing fantastic, they are 7 weeks old now. They have been really enjoying the space of their new play area and have explored every inch of it. It's so neat to see traits of their parents emerge in their personalities, they are a chill bunch that are loving and take on every new experience with ease.
They are doing great eating pretty much just kibble alone and are ready for their first vet checks next week.

Five weeks old for this litter! All the pups are doing great, eating more solids and less from mom. They are learning to scramble across any surface, play with toys and potty on the pad. They are all so different from each other and it's neat to see their individuality emerge.
