When we first decided to move to BC, Jordynn asked if she could raise dogs for a way of income and she has always been a dog lover. Upon some consideration, we started researching breeds, breeding and whether we liked this idea. Our initial breed we settled on was the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog as we love the Bernese, but these were the bigger, more rare cousins. Turns out it is quite difficult to

get breeding rights to these dogs as their lines are closely guarded by those raising them. It was at that time that we determined we would go with the Bernese and once we had built a reputation, perhaps at a later date buy a Swissie bitch. The hunt was then on for Bernese that we could work with. We found some of different lines and paid a deposit. We were in the midst of our crazy prep to move and more, so it took some time before we could go get them. Jordynn and Josh made the trek to Saskatchewan to pick up the dogs. It was apparent from the moment they met them that they had zero socialization beyond the many dogs that were at the location we got them from and not only that, they were terrified of people, men in particular. This has created a different start for us that we imagined. This is absolutely not we had expected when we went to get them and didn't fit our plans in the least, plus we paid a lot for them. However, Josh and Jordynn knew they would have a great life with us and brought them home despite their reservations. They are settled in very nicely in our new location. The dogs have latched on to Paddy and are quite loyal and protective. They are coming around to Jordynn and are still warming up to Josh. Our lives have been so chaotic that it has been difficult for them to find out what "normal" is. Now that we are settled, they appear to be changing daily. The adventure has been interesting so far, but it has taught us A LOT about what we don't want people's experience to be as this breed of dog is a loving, caring, companion dog and they are very loyal and sweet. We want to provide a puppy experience that is a "wow" in a good way.
