This Class is focused on helping you and your dog learn all the fundamental skills and concepts necessary for any and all training. When people think of dog training, the first thing that comes to mind is usually obedience commands like sit, stay, come, heel, etc. However, in order to teach new commands/behaviours simply and clearly and have your dog be able to perform those commands/behaviours reliably, there are a lot of skills and concepts that must be in place first. If you are struggling with your dog’s lack of obedience or you simply want to have a well-trained dog and don’t know where to begin, this is the class for you!

Note: This class is a prerequisite for most other obedience or sport classes that we will be offering

This is not your traditional puppy class!

Unlike other classes that focus mainly on some basic obedience or lots of chaotic playtime, our puppy class covers a broad spectrum of topics and skills that are critical to get started right away in puppyhood. Our goal is to give you and your puppy the foundation necessary to be successful all throughout life and not just when you have a treat in front of their nose, asking them to sit.

There is much more to navigating our crazy human world than learning to shake a paw or sit. Once your puppy has fundamental life skills and you know how to communicate effectively with them, teaching reliable obedience will become very easy!

This class is focused on helping you learn how to use play as your primary mode of training. Using play properly and appropriately can have a massive beneficial impact on almost every aspect of your dog’s life. For those who would like to explore or pursue any kind of dog sport, this class will give a great foundation on building motivation, while still fostering control and clarity. Perhaps you just want to be able to play fetch with your dog but they won’t bring the toy back or let go of it. Maybe your dog doesn’t really like playing with toys but would go nuts for food games. If you have a dog who enjoys playing with toys or is relatively food motivated and you would like them to listen to you better, this class will have a lot to offer you.

GROOMER WANTED – STONY PLAIN AB

Flexible part time position available in well-established canine care facility.

The DOGHOUSE – A Canine Academy is an education center for dog that serves the Parkland County area. Located in the industrial park in Stony Plain AB., we offer boarding, training and daycare. Our structured socialization program is offered via membership with an additional discount for all services including grooming.

The grooming room is approx. 400sq ft. Two tubs, in room laundry and a bank of veterinary grade kennels.

The groomer is responsible for table and grooming equipment plus specialty products over and above our basic shampoo/conditioner products.

Work at your own pace on a commission-based income. The DOGHOUSE can accept bookings and payment through our online program.

Grooming clients are expected to pick up and drop off during The DOGHOUSE office hours or by appointment only.

OFFICE HOURS at The DOGHOUSE are 7am-10am and 4pm-7pm Mon-Fri. Weekends by appointment only.
