CANADIAN SPIRIT AND SOUL
I've taken many photos of Beethoven over the years, and I really don't think I've yet managed to capture the true essence of this magnificent boy. I don't think my attempts come close to capturing the depth of his beautiful soul or the kindness of his spirit. He's such a special horse, perhaps a poet could do a better job painting the true image of our Beethoven with words? Or a musician, or an artist.

FRIENDSHIP
I love this scene... Lancaster and his mentor, our TWH gelding, Morgan have built a lovely friendship and they reinforce their bond during regular mutual grooming sessions. Here's one of them. Lancaster is the horse in the back, if you're wondering;))

LIKE FINE WINE...
Lancaster spends his days head down, eating and replenishing the calories his body uses up quickly nowadays, he's growing like a w**d! He's morphing into a teenager before our eyes, no more baby Lancaster;))) From time to time, as if looking into a crystal ball I catch a glimpse of him a few years from now. I see a striking Canadian Horse. First, we have to get through a few birthdays, because sometimes great things need time, like good wine 💗

THE MARES
Our mares and their babies, plus Kabriole. She wears many hats, a big sister, a babysitter and a teacher. There is peace and harmony in this group, everyone has found their place and Mikado and Morningstar's family grew bigger. It's perfect.

LANCASTER AND... MOSQUITOES
They were out full force last night and they sure challenged the steadiness of my camera handling abilities and... patience;) We still had a wonderful visit with all the horses, with a gorgeous sunset in the background, how lucky of us. The couple of grooming brushes I brought with me were put to a good use, everyone received as many scratches as they desired and plenty of cuddles and kisses, that's how we roll around here, haha! The babies already learned to skip the line 😁 It was a beautiful evening for sure. Lancaster is loving the space and freedom he can enjoy with Morgan and another senior horse as his pasture mates. They fit together perfectly, and that makes me very happy 💗

TOGETHER AT LAST!
The fence dividing Mornigstar and Mikado came down ( figuratively;)) and the boys finally met, face to face. It was an exciting moment to witness, they waited long enough! There was a lot of chasing and playing tag and figuring out where they fit, even being this young it was obvious the process was happening right in front of our eyes. Kabriole took Mikado under her wing, clearly keeping her eye on him, just in case, her attachment to him is quite obvious. It was the most interesting thing to watch the new herd dynamics at play. A brand new friendship was born between two brothers that day 💗

THE HERD OF THREE
A sibling-like relationship is emerging between Kabriole and Mikado. In this trio, Gwen makes all the decisions, but Kabriole, is "the second in command" and Mikado is learning about what that means;)

THIS SILLY FENCE!
Morningstar gets really upset about the fence standing between him and his brother, Mikado. After a period of drought the summer pasture is finally on its way to recovery and the mares are being started on grass gradually. The two brothers, however don't understand the idea behind it and express their frustration LOUD and clear! They can't wait to be together and neither can we. We're planning for it to happen in the next few days!

DANDELIONS EVERYWHERE!
Just a casual pic of baby Morningstar caught in mid-stride, prancing across the dandelion field. They're in full bloom and there are millions of them - millions of tiny pretty yellow flowers that make the backyard even more beautiful 🌼
Btw, Morningstar is a month old today! How time flies!!

GROW, GRASS. GROW!
Mikado and his mom Gwen spent a few hours on the grass yesterday. The pasture is recovering well now, the difference a good rain makes! It's so cute how the two brothers talk to each other over the fence. Soon they will have a playmate to spend time with and do what young colts do, play, play play! 💗
