🐾 Important Update for Dog Owners Traveling to the U.S. 🐾

Starting August 1, 2024, new regulations are in place for bringing your canine companion to the U.S. (by land or air) 🐶✈️ Here’s what you need:

1. Age and Health: Your dog must be at least 6 months old and healthy upon arrival.
2. Microchip: Your dog must have an ISO-compatible microchip implanted before receiving the rabies vaccination.
3. Health Certificate: Obtain from a licensed veterinarian 30 days prior to travel.
4. CDC Dog Import Form: Fill out this form online 2-10 days before arrival, including a clear photo of your dog. For pups under 1 year, take the photo within 10 days of arrival.

We can scan your dog for a microchip and arrange for insertion if needed. Please schedule an appointment with us for a microchip insertion.

Shoutout to our amazing SPVC Team! 🙌🐾

We want to give a huge thank you to our incredible team at SPVC for their resourcefulness and teamwork yesterday!

Despite the power outage, they pulled together by creating a hotspot on our iPhones for internet connectivity and using an A/C plug from a car to power our ultrasound machine.

Your dedication to our furry patients and quick thinking in a challenging situation were truly inspiring. We couldn't be prouder of the SPVC family! 💪❤️

We also want to extend our gratitude to Fortis AB for their prompt response and efforts to restore power. Your support made a big difference!

Dr. Paige recently performed (BOAS) surgery to help out this cute little button. 🐶💉

Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS) is a breathing problem that affects dogs with short noses and flat faces like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Boston Terriers. Commonly their airways are too narrow due to their unique anatomy, including pinched nostrils, a long soft palate, and a tight windpipe. 😷✂️

By increasing the airway by 2X, they benefit from 16X better airflow. Thank you Physics!!

Canadian Animal Task Force is a wonderful organization to support and adopt from, if you are thinking of adding a kitty to the fur family

❕The Task Force has nine feral cats desperately looking for their forever homes 🏡❕

These kitties came to us under tragic circumstances. We received an urgent call from a compassionate caregiver who had taken on the responsibility of this cat colony after the sudden loss of a dear friend. Stepping up in their friend's honor, they were surrendered into our care. 💚💙

Here are some quick facts about these beautiful nine kitties:
1. They all vary on their level of comfortability with humans, and would do best in a heated outdoor enclosure of some variation with access to the outdoors.
2. All nine cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tattooed and have been treated for parasites.
3. They will require a minimum of 30 days in a confined indoor space to allow for integration in their new space. This allows them to acclimate and feel a sense of safety and security.
4. They can be rehomed all together or in groups.
