How to Fit a “Dominant Dog Collar” for a Reactive Dog
Fitting a dominant dog collar, or what I like to call a slip lead, can make a world of difference for a reactive dog. This type of collar isn’t about harsh corrections but rather about providing gentle control to help calm your dog. If your dog tends to overreact to other dogs or gets too excited on the leash, starting with a properly fitted slip lead can be incredibly beneficial.
It’s essential to get the fit just right. Measure your dog’s neck snugly, choose the right size, and position the collar high on the neck, right behind the ears. A well-fitted collar helps maintain control and ensures the collar stays in place where it’s most effective.
Using a slip lead correctly can transform your walks and training sessions. It allows you to guide your dog calmly, teaching them to stay relaxed and focused without resorting to harsher methods. If you’re looking for more tips and personalized guidance, consider joining our Unleashed Potential Experience community. Together, we can help you and your dog reach your full potential.

When you hear the beep, that’s the e-collar being used. I’m using it to motivate and encourage Koal’s behavior, not to discourage him, except for letting go. This activates him, and as you can see, it’s working very well.
There’s nothing new for Koal to learn in this session. He loves to fetch and play. He already knows the tools in the system and how to respond. He just needs to learn to do it better. I’m more active in this session than I usually am because I’m playing with him. It’s a great way to get exercise for yourself too!
The e-collar I’m using is the Chameleon 3B with a finger kick, set to a low level that Koal can feel and respond to, but not high enough to create discomfort. The goal is to keep it fun and productive.
This is what I love about NePoPo® training. It’s creative and builds a relationship with the tools. With exercises like this, Koal becomes more confident, assertive, and braver. He’ll go out and do this on cue, with heart and soul. And that’s the whole goal!
Check out the video to see Koal’s progress and how effective this training can be! 🐾

Overcoming the "No Time" Myth
Understanding Bandwidth
Bandwidth is often misunderstood as not having enough time. You might say, "I really want to do this, but I don't have time." This is a false belief, and here's why.
The Real Issue
Many people claim they don't have time for their dreams or goals. They come back after a week and say, "I didn't have time to do my homework." This is frustrating because, in reality, you have more time than you think. Unless your schedule is jam-packed, the idea of not having time is just an excuse.
What Really Happens
When your plate gets full, you tend to scratch off your dreams and goals first, opting for quick wins instead. This means you might do chores like dishes, sweeping the driveway, or cleaning the garage instead of working on what truly matters to you. You might also distract yourself with social media or TV for a quick fix.
Making Time for Priorities
If your goal is a priority, don't let anything get in the way. Focus on what truly matters. Here are a few tips to help:
Schedule Wisely: take time to prep, make a plan and stick to it.
Eliminate Distractions: Cut out unnecessary tasks that don’t contribute to your goals.
Prioritize Goals: Work on your dreams first before the mundane tasks of the day.
Don't let the myth of "no time" hold you back. Prioritize your dreams and make time for what really matters. Follow me for more tips on achieving your goals and making the most of your time. #TimeManagement #GoalSetting #PrioritizeYourGoals #OvercomeExcuses #AchieveYourDreams

5 Factors To Predict Your Success With Your Dog
Have you ever wanted to take on a challenge, a goal, or a dream, but either didn't start it or gave up along the way? If so, this video is for you. Be sure to watch it right to the end.
Why People Don’t Start Their Goals
Many folks don’t start working on their goals or dreams because they believe the journey from start to reward will be too long. This period, known as delay time, can feel like an endless wait without any immediate payoff.
In dog training, the same principle applies. If a dog isn’t getting rewarded or if the tasks are too challenging, they'll lose interest and stop trying.
A Story About Patience and Motivation
When training a dog, it’s best to have them hungry and motivated. We often need to follow a proven process, but some of us struggle to follow the instructions and often create a longer delay period than required. The dog isn’t hungry enough,we feel emotional because the dog wont eat the food and we end up sabotaging the process, waiting longer, feeling frustrated, and sometimes even quitting.
Dream Big, But Be Realistic
I encourage all my students and clients to dream big. Whether it's a business project, personal development, or training your dog, having big goals is fantastic. But remember, the payoff needs to be worth the wait and small wins are key to keep going.
Life is a process. Relationships and transformations take time. So, patience and grace are essential.
Key Takeaways
Understand that delay time is a natural part of the process.
Keep your dog (and yourself) motivated with achievable, rewarding tasks.
Honor the struggle & embrace patience and grace in your journey toward your dreams.
Stay Motivated
Don’t let the fear of delay time hold you back. Dream big, start small, and stay patient. Your efforts will pay off in the end.

Meet Stacey Cook, a recent graduate of our Unleashed Potential School for Dog Trainers, and her dog Millie. Here's her incredible journey:
"Hi, I'm Stacey Cook, and I recently graduated from Duke Ferguson's Unleashed Potential School for Dog Trainers in Prince Edward Island, Canada. I enrolled with my dog Millie, who was a handful despite my lifelong experience with dogs.
After discovering Duke's free course online, I took it and was impressed by the results. Millie had no food drive, yet we made progress. This led me to the Genesis course with the e-collar component. Initially, I was scared of the e-collar, but learning to use it properly transformed our walks. Millie now enjoys the freedom to explore safely.
Before Duke's courses, Millie’s behavior was overwhelming—she shredded my clothes and seemed unmanageable. Thanks to Duke's training, I now have a dog I can walk, play with, and enjoy. Millie, at just 35 pounds, used to scare me, but not anymore.
What motivated me to become a dog trainer was wanting more from my relationship with Millie. Now, we enjoy our time together, and I hope everyone can experience this kind of bond with their dog."

You can train dogs with two sticks or any tool as long as it works toward your goal. Don't judge tools; if they help, keep using them. If a tool is ineffective or harmful, stop using it. Some tools are foolish for certain dogs, but you can train them with sticks if done right.
To build trust with a fearful dog, use the tool positively. For instance, if a dog is scared of a stick, start with the stick in hand, offering food to build positive associations. This process, called counter conditioning, changes the dog's perception of the tool and environment.
Recognize how different environments affect your dog. For example, I want my dog to associate the e collar with joy and hope for something good. Training is about adapting tools and methods to each dog's needs.

To improve my situation, I adapt. That's the best way to train dogs and gain their trust. Bart Bellen once shared a story about sticks from a wise farmer, which resonated with me because of my love for martial arts and stick work. Though I'm an amateur, practicing Balintawalk brings me joy and focus.
When my dog was young, he was scared of sticks. My goal was to train him using them, so I needed to build our relationship first. By turning stick training into a game, I connected with him and overcame his fear, showing that training is about understanding and adaptation.

Overcoming Pressure: The Truth About Dog Training Tools
Life is full of pressure, just like roses have thorns. It's essential to learn how to overcome it. In our system, we focus on setting goals for our dogs, giving them something to strive for.
People often blame tools, but the truth is, you don't need fancy equipment to train a dog. It's about choice and how you want to live with your dog. Build a relationship using their natural drives and instincts, starting as positively as possible.
Remember, there's no such thing as positive-only training. Even a hungry dog eating food is experiencing negative reinforcement. It's not bad; it's just misunderstood. Understanding this is key to effective training.

My nature inspired office build! 🙌🏻 I encourage all those I coach, who have an office, to make it inspiring so they can create more and enjoy doing work more. I don't like to be indoors at all and I have not had an official office indoors for many years. 😅 BUT It has been needed for a very long time.
An office can be and should be inspiring, since I like to be outdoors and can't always, I decided to bring outdoors in doors. 🤩 This gives me space to breath, re set, re focus and go! Whats your inspiring office look like?
