As is typical around Christmas, there is a lot of new puppy owners out there trying their best to set their pups up for success

Below is 3 things to keep in mind with new puppies:

1) Prioritize

There’s so much to teach these little rascals and not enough time. Focus on what’s important for each life stage. We recommend prioritizing in the following order; house training, manners, then obedience

2) You get what you tolerate

If you let ‘em bark, they are gonna bark
If you let ‘em jump, they will jump
If you let ‘em nip… you get the idea
Our advice; address this stuff BEFORE the pups are 50lbs+

3) Don’t train in a behaviour your gonna have to train out later

This is so common. If you don’t want a dog on your bed when they are big, don’t let ‘em up there when they are small! Simples.

🐾 For the Love of the Dogs

We didn’t grow up in a hunting family. But when we saw how much fulfillment hunting brings to our dogs—the pride, joy, and purpose in their work—we knew we had to learn. Not for us, but for them.

The journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth every moment. We taught ourselves how to hunt, how to train dogs for the field, and how to give them the life they were made to live. And this year has been full of moments that prove why we do it:

🌾 Our annual Pelee Island pheasant hunt was unforgettable. Watching Rebels huge improvement from last year was SO satisfying. Knight was his characteristic self: absolutely relentless in his pursuit of pheasants

🦆 Knight’s first duck hunt was a huge milestone—he nailed his retrieves and made us proud with every splash and every bird.

🐣 A litter of puppies arrived, each one carrying the potential to become the next companion and hunting buddy

🐶 And we welcomed a new puppy, Chief, into our home, ready to begin the journey of training and teamwork.

Our dogs have taught us so much about purpose, loyalty, and joy. This isn’t just hunting; it’s about giving our dogs a life that fulfills them. And in doing so, they’ve enriched ours beyond measure.

🎓🐾 Congrats to Our Level 1 Obedience Graduates! 🐾🎓

Big round of applause (and belly rubs!) for the amazing dogs and their dedicated owners who just completed our Level 1 Obedience Program!

🎉 These pups have been hard at work learning essential skills to become well-behaved members of the family.

Here’s what they’ve mastered:

🦮 Walking politely on a leash (no more tug-of-war strolls!)

🚪 Greeting people properly at the front door (bye-bye, jumping and chaos!)

🐕‍🦺 Listening around distractions (because focus is key in the real world!)

We get asked all the time about dog training. Yes, what we do is walk based training, socialization training and etiquette training, all using positive reinforcement and lots of rewards. We do work with dogs who have reactivity, these dogs are worked with one on one with Joel until he feels the dog is ready to meet the group. We’ve had many success stories that we are so proud of!

👀 Is your dog’s behavior holding you back from fully enjoying life together? 👀

Meet Josie, a Bernadoodle who’s just graduated from our 14-day behavioral boot camp board and train program – and her transformation is something to celebrate!

Josie came to us with plenty of energy, but her lack of focus around people, other dogs, and distractions made outings and everyday interactions a challenge for her family. Over two weeks, Josie worked hard and is now showing off some amazing new skills:

✅ Walking politely on a leash, even around other dogs
✅ Greeting people calmly without jumping
✅ Coming when called off-leash – even with squirrels and other dogs nearby!

To wrap it all up, we visited Josie’s home for a follow-up session with her humans, Heather and Steve, and it was a roaring success! Josie handled all her favorite spots and familiar distractions with newfound confidence and control, making her family proud and ready to enjoy more stress-free adventures together. 🌟🐾
