Need help finding Freya her Forever Home

Freya is an American Akita Inu born on May 8, 2020 and homed to a couple in Kelowna, BC. She has spent her first year of life in the same home; however, has shown some signs of aggression towards dogs and children recently. Akitas are known to be a dominant breed dog with a high prey drive and require active training & heavy socialization. Freya is great with adults and is a playful pup. All of her vaccinations are up to date and she has remained in good health otherwise.

With heavy hearts, we (as the breeders) are seeking to assist finding Freya a new home with an owner with strong dog knowledge & training skills but most importantly a gentle heart. This sweet girl deserves to be loved & cared for with someone who understands the challenges that the breed brings with it!

Visit to Pandosy Vet in Kens work truck today was a success! Although it took longer than anticipated with lots of pulling over to check the pups in their bins, but everyone did GREAT!
The pups weren’t scared & tolerated the vet & shots exceptionally well ❤️

First Vet Visit was a Success ❤️
Pandosy Vet was phenomenal as always & gave gentle loving care to each pup for a positive first visit 🏩 Below are the highlights & recommendations from the vet:

💛 No concern with any of the pups! All healthy & growing & well!

💛 Each pup has a report card that we will provide to you upon pickup with proof of their vaccination & deworming record

💛 Dog parks are a NO until fully vaccinated; beach is OK (with caution) if they are kept away from other dogs & are restricted from drinking the lake or puddles 🌊

💛 Next deworming is due in 2 weeks (when pup is 10 weeks old - approx July 18th) but contact your vet to ask their recommendation

💛 Vet highly recommends feeding Large Breed Acana for Puppies because it will help them grow slower and it has shown to make huge difference with their health problems. The vet says just recently it’s shown how much this large breed food can make a difference on the hips and their overall health down the road

💛 Females until first heat (8-10 months) and males 12-14 months then switching to raw or different types of food

We brought them in today to give them a few days after their first shots to make sure they are well to come home to you! (Sometimes they can be tired, irritable or have diarrhea/vomiting after shots and deworming)

Waiting on the other 5 pups now 😍 seems as if the smallest pups pop their ears first (Taika is smallest followed by Huntress then Freya...)

Happy 7 Weeks to the Pups Yesterday! 🥳
This will be the last weight we do as next weeks weight will be done by the vet at their 8 week checkup (is this real life?!... it’s almost time for them to go to their forever homes!)

Weights in birth order: current weight, weight gained in the last week & weight in POUNDS!

Thor 7556grams (1526g) = 16.6 pounds
Chewie 7956grams (1759g) = 17.5 pounds
Rufio 7100grams (1391g) = 15.6 pounds
Huntress 6275grams (1122g) = 13.8 pounds
Freya 6261grams (989g) = 13.8 pounds
Koda 7008grams (1158g) = 15.5 pounds
Taika 6081grams (1117g) = 13.4 pounds

** keep in mind we do these weights with a kitchen scale and a baking pan so there may be a variance when the vet weighs them** (we try our best!)

A few things we would like to mention this week:

🔺 We will be posting a video this week sometime; however, due to schedule conflicts with our work schedules - it won’t be until later in the week (so sorry!)

🔺 We are finalizing the contract for all to sign before picking up their pups & will send it out by next week. The final payment must be made before pickup of your pup

🔺 Everyone has met their pup now & we are so excited for you all to have your new addition join you in a few short weeks

🔺 On that note: Ken & I are planning out who will be picking up their pup first as we are hoping to space it out over 1 week for the mamas sake. The first pickup will be July 5 & the following pickup will be July 10/11. We apologize in advance if we have chosen your pup to stay a little longer - please understand, we don’t want the Mom to be depressed and shocked if we can prevent it at all. The owners coming from a distance will get first choice.

Great preparation video for the first few days with puppy when the time comes to take them home ❤️
We have been trying to be very pro active about exposing them to things that will be in their environment from objects to sounds; however, the forever training will need to come from you - their master 🙂
Preparation is key to success 💯🙌🏻
Time to make sure you’ve got everything you will need from potty training supplies & carpet/upholstery cleaner, treats/food, collar & leash, all sorts of toys so it gets smelling like you & their forever home 🏡 oh; & pet insurance too!

Only 3 more weeks or so 🥳
