We have puppies! Early on January 2nd, Ian heard a squeak from Nakita's kennel - her usual sleeping spot. When he investigated he found that there was a tiny, wet puppy. We were not expecting their arrival for several more days.

Between Ian and Skye, they got Nakita set up in the whelping room. But then things didn't seem to be progressing and they became concerned. Off to the Emergency Vet for assistance.

They may not be seasoned whelpers but they did a great job! Thank you!

By the time I arrived home later that evening, we had 8 little puppies and Nakita ready to head home.

This one stands out because my mother was a journalist. Writer of type. They were breathtaking. I remember sitting on my mother’s lap as she typed. The fragrance of pареr and ink was delightful. They had so many models, it was like an art piece… Have you got a typewriter? A Nostalgic Journey ...

Is your family ready for a new puppy? You need a fair bit of time in those early months. They need to have lots of positive exposure to the things they'll encounter in your human world. Generally, they will sleep through the night within the first week at home and you'll start potty training right away. You will need a crate for night time and a wire pen for daytime.

Entlebuchers are active dogs and require plenty of exercise or activity outlets. They enjoy being with their people - 100% of the time if possible. We do not recommend leaving them on their own more than 2 hours for the first several months.

As a medium sized dog, we worry about their hip health. To help them live healthy long lives, we insist that they remain intact until 2 years of age (no neutering). We also suggest that you avoid any stairs or jumps off furniture until after 6 months. They will be small and easy to carry until then.

Learn more by checking out our website at www.bar-tt-entlebuchers.com and join the national breed club at NEMDA.org.

Rama of Aspen, CO.
Nakita of Bergen, AB.

A very timely meeting was achieved. Thanks to Eve of Dyberry Creek for her amazing enthusiasm and cheer leading! I’m not sure we would have pushed to a successful conclusion without her.

Mary Kate and Rama made the drive from Aspen to meet us at Green River, UT. On rather short notice.

Nakita & I took a detour while hauling horses from Bergen, AB to Cottonwood, AZ. Instead of going from Spanish Fork, UT straight south to Page, AZ, we went east and saw some new countryside.
Our little adventure took us through beautiful Moab.

Miraculously, Nakita was in heat and very receptive to Rama’s interest. We will wait for confirmation but we are excited about the possibility of some absolutely stunning puppies.

Our new kittens for the feed room are nicely settled in. I hope they are voracious hunters as we have seen evidence of mice at this location. Matthys has approved their official ranch names, Peach (formerly Nutella), TJ (Trout Jr) and Bear. They sure have mastered climbing!

Due to unforeseen circumstances with one of our approved puppy families, we have a puppy available.
The litter was born May 2, sired by our Nelson Hercules v Eagleheart and whelped by our Nakita Josephine de Jude la Cathare. Pups will be ready to head to their homes about July 10th from the ranch, near Bergen, Alberta.

Thank you to our puppy families for their updates and photos. We enjoy seeing our pups as they grow and learn new things. Below is Nestle, a male pup, 4 months old. Isn't he handsome?

Our dogs are enjoying life after puppies. Nakita still likes her evening snuggles but for the most part they have taken back the spotlight and are focused on fun, fun, fun!Running in the snow, chasing balls in the house, doing their very best dramatic eyes to claim they really did not have a meal yet today.

Nelson seems to be establishing new boundaries with Kuiper the cat and commonly spends time licking her ears. Nakita should be going into heat soonish but according to Nelson it’s not soon enough. He will be despondent when he learns that this is not to be a breeding heat. For now, he is ever watchful and hopeful while Nakita gives him a sharp rebuke and steals the prized toy.

As Alberta heads into social isolation again for a month, we cherish these dogs that
bring joy and laughter to everyday.

The puppies LOVE visitors. And the more different people they meet, the easier life will be for them in their new homes. Kids are especially important as dogs sometimes worry about their high pitched voices and quick movements. Thanks to the Dixons for helping us out with puppy socialization!

Entlebucher Mountain Dog puppies were born Sept 9th at the ranch to Nelson Hercules v Eagleheart and Nakita Josephine de Jude la Cathare. They are growing fast, gobbling up the food and entertaining us all day long.

Puppies!

Exciting news! Nelson & Nakita are awaiting the arrival of puppies - mid September. If you have friends or family that have been hoping for an Entlebucher puppy, this could be your chance. Send them our way.
This may be a purely Canadian litter - bred, whelped, raised and homed in Canada, due to the COVID restrictions on travel. I will be giving preference to Canadian homes for this litter.
Also, I will be looking for help with household and puppy chores from mid September to November. Let me know if you are available and interested in helping out.
