Update: The case is still ongoing....Valarie has refused the company's lastest offer.
Warning... over a year ago, I got a call from a horse owner called Valarie Findlay, who was trying to find out why her horses were falling ill and dying after using Madbarn AminoTrace. We had a long conversation during which I assured her I was confident it was the Madbarn Supplement and she needed to have it tested at once. The first lab found nothing so she phoned the veterinarian that was handling the Monensin catastrophe in the states. He is an associate professor at Texas A&M and explained their lab uses more markers that ordinary labs. I got this email this morning and am sharing this with her permission.
"Dear Lynne
I wanted to followup with you on what we have found out; the AminoTrace I fed my horses was contaminated with monensin. Texas A&M just sent me the report. There’s no telling how many horses were affected, and since monensin can be immediately or short-term fatal, it can also be fatal over many months. My third horse, who was affected, will likely die from cardiac failure at some point; she is being assessed to find out the extent of the damage.
If you or anyone has been using their products I urge you to have them tested but also have your vet assess your horses for cardiac damage as the effects are fatal. "
