FYI Monday - How much millet should I give my budgie?

An adult budgie can have about a half a stick of millet seed, as a treat, per day. Sometimes I recommend giving baby budgies a bit more. It is a softer seed for them to crack and they are more likely to need the calorie intake.

FYI Monday - Clipping Wings

I usually clip my baby budgie's wings to avoid injury when learning to fly. There are other times when you may find it necessary to clip the wings, such as bringing the bird on a trip somewhere. The diagram below shows the different feathers on the bird. Only cut the Primary feathers (the 1st 10 feathers) of the wing and dont cut too close to the Covert feathers (the bleeders). If ever you are needing to trim your budgies' feathers and are hesitant of doing it yourself, please feel free to reach out to me so I can offer some help.

FYI Monday - Do you breed English Budgies??

I do have a pair of English Budgies that Ive been trying to breed but, so far, have not had much luck. I will keep trying though, sometimes these things take more time if they're meant to be.
