On Easter Sunday 2005, I watched in excitement as a tiny, black and white puppy was carried into my Nanny's home in an Easter basket, a gift from a close family friend. From then until Nanny's passing on Christmas Eve 2019, Zoe was her best friend and constant companion.

I was chosen to give Zoe a retirement home, with the notion that she wouldn't be around much longer either. Not only did she go on to live another 5 years, but seamlessly transitioned from life at home with Nan to full blown adventure with me. She came on pack walks, we traveled, camped, moved homes 3 times, and found Morgan and Frida together in those 5 years.

Zoe was bold, brave, friendly, intelligent, a big dog in a little body, and I feel so incredibly blessed to have had her in my life for nearly two decades, and as my own dog in her senior years.

Zoe passed away peacefully on October 26th. Yesterday, she would have turned 20 years old. Happy birthday Zoe, you were a really, really good dog ❤️

I have decided to take a much needed break to spend time with family and friends over the holidays! There will be no walks scheduled from Monday December 23rd to Wednesday January 1st. The regular schedule will resume on January 2nd.

This has thankfully become a lot more well known, and there are so many better options available these days! ...but just a reminder, rawhide is NOT a good idea

Please do not buy. Throw them away if your dog gets one as a gift. Giving rawhide to a dog is never a good idea.

Many of these so called treats end up with the dog “enjoying” some time in a veterinary surgery over Christmas. The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats come from China.

The chews are made from cattle or horse hides and their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulfide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white “pure” look and remove the rancid smell.

Now comes the pretty festive colors and the glue to form cute shapes. On testing, these chews have shown traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium and formaldehyde.

If that wasn’t bad enough, they regularly cause intestinal blockages, poisoning from chemical residue and choking. The chews go slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog.

Courtesy post for a family friend. Puppy is not in my possession, but I can facilitate rehoming.

Max was recently taken in by a friend of a family member, from a tennant of his who was not caring for Max properly.

Max is an approximately 12 week old German Shepherd/Rottweiler cross. He is already house trained, but not vaccinated. He is an extremely friendly, affectionate boy. Sleeps through the night as long as he's near a human. Max will be surrendered to the SPCA in the next few days if a home does not come forward, as his current guardian has another dog who is not accepting him.

Our friend Mac and his family started their new adventure in the Okanagan at the end of August.

I first met Mac when he was just a pup, and I was still a brand new dog walker working for another company. Through the years he has been a staple in our little pack. Mac has always had such a fantastic personality and presence. People constantly stop to admire him, and compliment how well behaved, and good natured he is for such a massive dog. To say I'll miss this guy is an understatement. He is one of the most loyal, and loving dogs I have ever met. Things just won't be the same without him.
